When they are at their best Philpotts is the best but too often they are out of certain items, throw things on the sandwich without asking exactly what you want, they don’t toast enough, they don’t cut your sandwich in half and the hand sanitizer is far too sensitive. They can also be inconsistent with prices and charge more or less for the same dish so. Still better than subway in terms of selection and friendly staff. I’d recommend going early.

The rolls are just so good from here and the coffee is great.

One of the last places to get a proper breakfast roll on Lothian Road. Hotplate selection of bacon, sausage, mushrooms and hash browns. Eggs are cooked to order. A tasty treat! 🍳

Disappointed to understand the “loyalty stamp policy” there are lots of clauses to ensure you don’t get the loyalty stamps you deserve!! By a coffee and sandwich deal - no stamp for your coffee!! Buy 2 coffees - only 1 stamp!! Come on Philpotts? You shouldn’t be making me go to Costa for a better loyalty reward... but I will due to your incredible mean reward!

My colleagues and I visit here often as it’s close to our office and handy for a healthy lunch. However last week I had a salad that was full of large chunks of broken glass, which cut the inside of my throat and caused it to bleed. The staff were very apologetic and gave me a refund but I will never visit again and nor will any of my colleagues. So incredibly dangerous and I can’t believe how that could ever be allowed to happen.

Very nice and friendly staff, fresh food made jist in front of the customer, many choices, very busy and relatibeley small place, the busiest time is between 1pm and 2pm, bit expensive food, hot food takes long time to make for noodels i was told 10 minutes so i went for roast instead and soup, have not seen toilets there, recomend it

Great coffee and great prices. We went there for breakfast midmorning on a walk through the city, and were amazed by the range of fresh food available, all at a great price. I will be going back soon, and hope to pop in for lunch. The food is great prices and you can tailor in what you want. 5 star

Philpotts is a great little takeaway that caters for breakfast, lunch and snacks. They have a wide variety to choose from and everything is very fresh. The porrige is great and they offer a range of topping like chopped strawberries and nuts. They also do bacon and sausage sandwiches and at lunchtime there is a salad bar, sandwiches and hot food to choose from. The service is always prompt and polite, I have never had a bad experience in here.

Philpotts is the best place in town to get a really tasty lunch. The ingredients on offer are always high-quality, and their combination of sandwiches, salads as well as lovely great roasts mean that you'll always find something that you want. They're also very, very friendly and a great bunch of people which is a very big bonus! Try the chocolate cake as well - I got addicted to it for a while and bought a slice every day for months!
