Purslane Restaurant in Edinburgh

Had the most incredible dinner here. My boyfriend and I got the 7 course tasting menu with paired wines and a cheese board. Every single dish was beyond expectation, the fish course and pre-dessert especially were astounding. There was even a small surprise course of a mini rabbit lasagne which was honestly one of the best things I have ever tasted. The wines that went along with the food were delicious by themselves, but beautiful regardless. The staff were very friendly and also just really exceptional at their jobs. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the music went perfectly with the meal, making the atmosphere honestly just lovely. Purslane went above and beyond expectations and I could not recommend it more.

Fine dining in relaxed surroundings where you can feel at ease and just enjoy yourself. Both of us had ' conditions', one wheat intolerant and the other, reluctantly, presently needing to go easy on wine. Both were catered for without any fuss and the menu adjusted accordingly where necessary. Others have described the quality of the cooking and we agree wholeheartedly, some amazing flavours. We look forward to returning soon.

One if the best meals I have every had, we've been fortunate enough to visit some exceptional restaurants in our time (Royal Hospital Road, 21212 and L'Enclume to name some) and I think the food here stands up to them. Exceptional quality, very small and intimate, expensive but worth it for the whole dining experience.

Had the Sunday lunch roast beef with paired wines and it was a revelation. We don't tend to do fine dining very often but am aware that it either firmly disappoints or rocks your world. Was very much the latter in this case; tastiest meal I've had since 2019 and very memorable indeed.

Had the most wonderful dining experience here! My boyfriend and I had the five course tasting menu with matching wines which were just amazing! The food was to die for and the wines were very specifically chosen to compliment each dish. The restaurant itself is small, cute, and cosy, and a super relaxed environment for you to enjoy yourself! The service was amazing too! Fast and friendly- we were even recommended local bars to go to and where to enjoy a scenic view of the sunset over the city! I adored it

Amazing 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing, the jus with the lamb main course is quite possibly one of the best things I've ever tasted quite literally like liquid gold. The staff were very friendly & attentive, if you are looking for something along the fine dining route and want somewhere quite intimate then this is definitely the place to go.

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic 7 course taster menu in this excellent neighborhood restaurant! Great wine list, friendly and knowledgeable staff and even good music! This was hands down one of my favourite fine dining experiences! A superb choice!

We have gone for 7 courses tasting menu. The dishes are very unique (cooking technique but not the ingredient), I do find something is kind of missing in our dining experience. Perhaps for a fine dining and the price, we expected more. I find the portion is a bit too small. There were quite a lot of house flies around during our dining experience so overall I would say it is a 3.5 star experience. The service is very good.

Went for lunch had pork, roasties, Yorkshire pud, carrots and duck fat cabbage. Also raspberry sorbet with berry soup. Absolutely amazing, definitely go again. Staff were very nice, lovely bunch 👍
