Food to die for. sommelier good at wine choice with the dishes We ordered.

It was good dishes as a normal nice restaurant. After we paid the bill no staff came out to bring our coats back till we asked them to take it and nobody said bye to us. We had been in few michelin star restaurants but this experience is really new.

Very enjoyable tasting menu experience. Wonderful service with great staff, friendly and attentive. Food was exquisite, excellent starters, thought the scallop dish was fabulous but deserving of a whole scallop! Overall great variety and interesting flavours, textures and ideas

What an absolutely brilliant experience! We were lucky enough to treat ourselves to a few nice meals while in Edinburgh and Martin Wishart was easily the best. Friendly and perfect service, tasty food and flexible menus with great wine pairings. What's not to love and I look forward to returning when I'm next in town!Beware the roads nearby are easy to get lost/stuck on, due to building work!

Absolutely exquisite cooking. Four distinctive appetisers including a beautiful veloute. The halibut and mango ceviche was divine. Scallop with a lightly curried sauce was gorgeous. Concentrated flavours in the partridge raviolo. Faultless service. Excellent wine list.

Not for us I’m afraid. Only taster menus and a limited normal menu, for the price we was expecting outstanding flavours and larger dishes. The taster menus are £110 per person. The service was very good, but we ended up not completing our food as it was not very nice to be honest, and leaving. The wine we ordered was £50 per bottle, yet on checking online a bottle of the same wine was £8.50! We ended up getting a takeaway!

The tasting menu was amazing! Every single dish was delicious and interesting. This is Michelin starred fine dining so expect small dishes with amuse bouches between course. Each dish is described before being presented. It’s silver service, and there’s a sommelier too with an extensive wine list. I don’t like the decor too much, kind of like a hotel bar area, but it’s really not important as the atmosphere, service and food are first class. They made a fuss for my birthday too as a surprise treat. Can’t wait to go back!

This place is simply incredible. I took my mother for lunch two days ago as a treat for her 80th birthday and it was absolutely sensational from start to finish. The setting, the food, the wine list and the staff are all 1st class. Cannot wait to return. My mother said it’s the best food and dining experience she has had in her 80 years. Just phenomenal. We will return.

Ate lunch here recently, had been looking forward to it for a long time, been 15 years since last here. The tasting menu was generally strong, with the scallop and the ravioli dishes standing out. However the Wagu was disappointing, I think the focus should remain on Scottish seasonal produce and not try to attract with more exotic, but expensive ingredients which necessitate tiny portions. The mouth feel was absent, and with the piece being so thin the cooking was imprecise. Also the veal presentation was challenging.. tartare is never the prettiest dish, but this was reminiscent of a Sheba television commercial..tasted fine though! The wine selection was very well judged, in particular the NZ pinot noir was a perfect match for the ravioli.

Slightly odd dining room layout but liked the small number of covers. Service excellent and very attentive. I've come to the conclusion that any high end dining experience doesn't just live or die on the food it's the combination of the tasting menu and the sommelier. Both were very good here with the highlight (sorry martin) being the impeccable sommelier. Knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to walk us through every conceivable option when the pairing wasn't considered. Overall a great experience and would definitely return. Only thing missing was the soufflé!
