Spencer's Bistro in Edinburgh

Afternoon tea was fantastic only downfall because I'm more of a savory person there was only three half sandwiches with crust cut off, I'd have preferred one more. However desert cakes,scones,profiteroles amazing for my sister's who love sweets rather than savoury. Staff attentive and very hospitable to all customers. Fantastic wee get together with my twin and another two sisters . Thank you FIVE***** STARS.

Food was OK at deal price but not worth full price. Should have had choice of chips but wasn't offered. Would have been nice to have been offered the beer garden but then they didn't have any draught beer. Worst of all, manager gave staff a dressing down, threatening their job, while in customers' earshot. Very unprofessional.

We went with a voucher for fish and chips for two and we were so disappointed with what we were given. The fish was half the size it should have been. The chips, really wedges were great but we still had half of them left after eating the fish. Other people had steaks and they looked good. We ordered crayfish and prawn Marie rose and it was very good so to follow that up with such a poor main was a big let down. Don’t go for beer unless you like lager, Caledonia IPA only alternative. Almost all cocktails were vodka based. For a boutique hotel the food seemed very conservative. The service was good but it is a small restaurant.

We visited after being gifted a Groupon voucher, and due to terrible weather we were told that all other bookings had cancelled or not shown up.We were very impressed that while being the only customers they absolutely did not compromise on quality or service, and kept us well fed with an absolutely fantastic meal.We will definitely return, and would recommend this well hidden Bistro to anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere and great food.

Don't let the fact it's located in a basement put you off...looks are deceptive and this is a magical place.Inside it's quite cosy but full of character . More to the point the food is out of this world..One of the best meals i have ever had.The steak was cooked exactly as requested and was really flavoursome and tender.Had a slight panic as waiter thought their pistachio cheesecake was finished but checked and found a slice for me....absolute heaven . Just wished i could have eaten it all over again there and then.Coffee was hot .another bonus.Just wish i had found this place sooner.BTW ...management your waiter is a wee gem...keep hold of him !Will definitely be back.

Very good fresh food! My duck breast was perfectly cooked! The mussels were a delight!We had a lovely time for my cousin's birthday! The birthday cake was really nice!

Wonderful food with great service, and all set in very pleasant surroundings. First time visit to Spencers and I must say that we were very happy about all aspects of our evening. Good value food and drinks too! Well worth a visit.

Lovely food and the service was excellent. Jazz looked after my whole family. We will be back next time we are in Edinburgh.

Amazing food, made me a special pudding tray of 3 mini deserts each for me and friend beacuse it was my birthday and she quietly sang.

Two of had a late lunch. Excellent. Lovely surrounding s. Food and staff also first class.
