Pub grub but high end. Great staff and lovely atmosphere. Reasonable cost for the value IMO...

Lovely place with really nice atmosphere. Great food and totally worth the price. It's not in the centre but thanks to that is also a bit quieter. Will definitely go back there :)

Very warm and inviting inn near to Spylaw Park and the Colinton tunnel, which is handy for a post lunch walk to work off the large portions. We had haddock and chips and buttermilk chicken burger, both were lovely. Dog friendly in the bar! Nice wallpaper :D

Sunday roast was absolutely delicious, everything cooked to perfection. Gorgeous turkey with stuffing plus loads of seasonal fresh veg. The service was also prompt and attentive, and more happy to oblige my request for subbing out one of the sides. I'm not a fan of pigs in a blanket so asked for a Yorkshire pudding instead, which doesn't come with the turkey roast, and this was happily arranged. I even got a wee pot of extra gravy, yuuuss!Only quibble was with the side salad of rocket & parm with balsamic, and I love balsamic but this was nearly swimming in it, ha. Anyway I passed on the suggestion to my server that they maybe cut back on the balsamic by at least a third, and he very attentively took this on board and said he would certainly pass on the input to the kitchen. All very good humoured and perfectly solicitous throughout. The menu here (and interior) have had a total update and the results are brill. Hadn't been in a few years and it was a happy surprise, tres au currant! Still the same comfy village pub but without the average grub, and the interior looks the same at first glance but is sooo much nicer, not the old fusty vibe it kinda had before. Worth a visit!

This is a great local place. Some good beers available and excellent food too. The interior design is also spot on. Comfortable but with nice attention to detail. At the rear there is a big outside space with tables. Nice diversion if you happen to be walking along the Water of Leith.

What a disaster, arrived for our table booking only to be told (without an apology and quite abruptly) that it was being used by people still having their dessert. 20 minutes late, finally shown to our table, leaving us just 40 minutes until the "band" started. Another 25 minutes after placing our order (for 2 cheese boards mind you!) we got served - with no butter. Asked for butter. Got 2 tiny sachets for 9 bits of toast and 3 oatcakes. Interesting comments on price and quality on here. Not one star for those but it ain't all that. Very average and 'chainy' I'd say. Definitely one star for service..amongst the worst I've experienced. We'll not be back, and if you're looking to feel welcomed and wanted in a place, our advice is to avoid it.

A pleasant surprise from this lovely comfy pub. We ordered several different items (mussels, lamb, chicken bites, truffle fries and drinks) from their menu and we enjoyed every single one of them.

We went for Sunday lunch. Nice looking pub, and great service. I ordered the roast lamb dinner which was delicious and plentiful. My husband ordered fish pie which he enjoyed very much. Our guest ordered mussels as a lunch dish and got a very good portion. The coffee is very strong which we were delighted with. Looking forward to eating here again.
