St Andrews Restaurant in Edinburgh

Came last week when the weather was nice with my partner and dog and decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather, my partner went to go inside to the toilet however returned several seconds later telling me the waiter had told her the toilets are for customers only to which she told him we were customers and were sitting outside at the tables they provide, he then said the toilets are for restaurant customers only. The restaurant at this time had 3 tables inside eating all pairs so we were even more confused as to why she couldn't have just nipped to the bathroom quickly as it wasn't busy and we were paying customers. Have been a customer here for a long time now but definitely won't be back again and do no recommend

Great fish and chips. Shame they only let their eat in customers use the toilet. My pregnant wife had to find another establishment to use the facilities before being able to enjoy her take away.

The restaurant is situated at a convenient location not very far from the Portobello Beach and is sectioned into distinct dine-in and takeaway area.I ordered a variety of dishes over a couple of visits, ranging from Haggis Tweeds to Margherita Pizza to Tiramisu. While all of the dishes served are good, their Haddock in Batter is one of the best fish and chips one can get in Edinburgh.The place is reasonably priced and is definitely recommended to try out. Had a lovely meal last night, nice service food lovely ,but a little let down when a large party came in and were wandering about without wearing masks, made me a bit unsettled.They clearly could see staff wore masks and others entering and leaving. It is still advisable to wear until seated but these people had no thoughts for anyone else.

On Wednesday I invited my friend out for a fish tea to help celebrate his birthday! We'd been once before after a long walk along the Prom. Instead of a carry out, we sat in the dining area. Very impressed! After enjoying our delicious fish and chips, we thought we'd return! So on Wednesday we ordered the fish and chips! Again, fresh fish and chips to die for! Our waiter was great and helped us with our requests! We were so full up, we didn't need a desert! Maybe next time! Thank you for making my friend's birthday that little more special. Highly recommended this restaurant!

6 of us having a family lunch. Food EXCELLENT, great attentive service and good prices. Only drawback, they have no dark beer, its what my uncle drinks. Will definitely be back.

Lovely local pizzeria and fish and chip shop takeaway in Portobello. Great service, friendly and easygoing. Pizzas great, fab mozzarella on the Margheritas and nice (and pleasingly different) pizza menu options too. Well recommended!

We visited the restaurant. Fish cooked in a light crisp batter, very nice. Good portion sizes. Desserts are good too! Friendly service. You can understand why they won awards.

I had lunch in St Andrews restaurant today, gluten free fish with salad, very nice. Coffee was good and as I drink americano you know if the coffee is not good, this coffee was lovely, I had two cups. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and the service from Lukasz was superb. I recommend it all without hesitation.
