The Black Bull in Edinburgh

Good ambience, good service lots of seating and a large bar area. Good food available all day. What's not to like???

This is a good pub for those not attending for a quiz. I turn up Once a week for a pub quiz to find a bunch of obnoxious young lads yelling all the answers with their phones out. I feel this pub has provided a poor service. The pub looks to be minimally staffed and has no security. So when clearly these lads should have been kicked out they couldn’t be. This pub should have more staff to stop these sort of things happening. I know no one wanted these people on the premises as the nearest person was about 20metres away. Employ some security staff! 2 stars rather than 1 as the staff were friendly probably realizing our group has been attending for several weeks. But if they are unable to deal with anti social behavior due to lack of staff then we and probably other people will go elsewhere.

Friendly staff, lots of tv's for sport, outside seating and lovely food. Pic is outside the pub looking at the other side of the street.

Fantastic jerk chicken burger & my wife had the Sunday roast which was cooked well. We wanted to watch a specific football game & staff member was accommodating.

Great place. Food is good, staff are fantastic although sometimes seem understaffed.Pub atmosphere and ideal location next to decent shops and the castle. Been back here a few times on my visit just for a beer and relax with a book and a pint before I ordered food.I’d recommend this place. 👍

Me and my partner came here today for food having walked a lot around Edinburgh trying to find somewhere decent. I can not recommend this place enough. My partner had fish and chips and I had the cheese and bacon bull burger and I can honestly say it's the best burger I have tasted in a long time coming from someone who is very fussy! Perfect on rugby days, albeit a bit crowded. Lots of TVs and very good burgers. Would definitely recommend, the walk is worth it if Platform 5 is full!

Best pub meal Ive had in Scotland. Meat was so tender in my pie. very helpful servers.

Extra peppery haggis was very good 😁 also the haggis loaded fries (dirty scottish loaded fries). Fish & chips were also good, but the hagfis with extra pepper was really something else.

Warm sunny evening - tables outside were Covid friendly and even though we had to 'queue' for a table in the sun - it was worth the wait.
