Weekend BreakWe recently spent 3 nights at the Canny Man, and was so happy we did, I’ve been to Edinburgh a few times though always stayed in town.Morningside is a vibrant suburb a short distance out of town, and the Canny Man is certainly one of its jewels, the Pub is an eclectic mix of curios, furniture and art which was a breath of fresh air compared to generic Pub interiors we’ve become accustomed too.The suites attached to the Pub are full of clean lines and quality furnishings and served as a luxurious sanctuary after a days trek around Edinburgh.Would not hesitate to visit here again! Keep up the Good Work ✌️

This place is unique and well worth a visit ... plan time to peruse the walls, ceilings, the nooks and crannys... you won't be disappointed. Oh and the staff are excellent.

Bloody Mary's are exceptional. Atmosphere and staff are great. Didn't try food this time, but heard great things!

Excellent, family-owned pub. Terrific environment, great food. Didn’t get a drink — looking forward to coming back!

What a wonderful place to get a great meal in a great atmosphere, with friendly and attentive stuff. Great choice on menu, with daily special fixed price menu with 3 courses at £21.95. Full of interesting artifacts and antiquities. Like a really traditional, busy pub but even better. We had mussels, salmon, steak pie, and managed one portion of profiteroles between us. All delicious and very good value.

OK, the pub of this intricate interior couldn't be zero or one star. It has atmosphere. But I echo Kassie and many others' view of this bar. Ruinously expensive. I paid 2.95 for the cheapest HALF pint and nearly 6 for a pint. Even in Edinburgh, where do these pricing come from? and I agree with Kassie and the rest, the staff's attitude were Terrible. Arrogant. You know the kind of place and staffer that is NOT overtly rude BUT rude. Difficult to pinpoint WHAT, but definitely hostile. When I came in the waitress was standing there already and asked me what was it I wanted. Was there a CCTV? When I was looking for a loo, a woman showed up out of no where and told me I was in a wrong place. Was there CCTVs? Kind of creepy. No staff smiles in this place. Now you might guess that they thought I was ''lowering the tone'' and wanted to be gone sooner? That is likely, but the first time I came here was twenty odd years ago with a wealthy gentleman with his wife, a prosperous looking middle aged couple I met at the local Rotary Club and I remember THEY were complaining that the waitress was NIPPY, the exact word I still remember, ''No, no, we are not arguing'' etc. There you go, it was decades ago. This place has been constantly rude and exclusive and expensive.

This is a really cool quirky pub and we loved that its been in the family for generations. The food smelt delicious and it had a nice chilled vibe about it.The only negative is it felt like 1 rule for visitors and another for locals. Now I dont mind wearing masks at all however when we walked in people was walking around without so we asked the younger guy do we need to wear these which he said no its okay. Then we had got our drinks and the older bar man said very rudely guys you need to wear masks when walking around here, so we put them straight on. Whilst sat down he was chatting to what looked like locals walking around without masks on!So not only was the bar tenders on different pages with having to wear them but if you was a regular then its fine to not wear one ✔️.

If you come to Edinburgh you need to come here, particularly better if you get to chat to a regular called Ian, totally made our night! Such a quirky venue, homely and just what we needed for our last night. It's like a rabbit Warren, every little room has its own character, and feels very authentic

Eclectic collection in the pub, great Blues music and a very dour landlord.

Best pub I’ve ever been to in the UK (and there were a few):• quaint atmospheric ambience;• top food, as tasteful as the music and decor (uniquely Edinburgh, but certainly much posher than most);• excellent service, waiters as friendly and authentic as the regulars frequenting this gem 💎Want to enjoy a memorable meal in good company - look no further, you won’t find any better.Definitely will invite my ould man for a treat here.AAA*
