Lovely, bustling old fashioned pub with friendly staff. I had a pint of Stewart's Jack Back which was excellent. My wife had a Mortimer's Orchard Cider, which she loved. Beers are around £5 a pint.We didn't eat, but the food looked good. Lots of people were ordering the burgers.

Went in for a quick bite and some beer. During lunch you’re instructed to order at the bar when I went to do so I was Ignored by the women behind the bar after she has taken multiple patrons orders. When i asked to order she stated “2 minutes please” and proceeded to clean a non existent mess. The very helpful man then proceeded to take my order and when someone new approached the bar the women was suddenly readily available. I took not offense in the begging until she proceeded to serve other customers.

Close to the Castle. Lovely warm atmosphere. Soup and delicious bread and chips warmed the freezing hands! Lovely management. Kind and caring. Thank you for finding the changing table for our two year old.

This places is always a good one to enjoy a wonderful evening. Great food and a beautiful places with an awesome history. It's a bit expensive but apart from that, it's always a good recommendation.

Interesting historical pub. Food was good, but the menu was limited. Could do with a wider choice of ales.

Stopped in for a pint at lunch this week. The staff and service were good. The place was clean and the decor was nice with lots of curios to look at. The food choices also looked great. I feel sad that I didn’t make it back for the food! Definitely worth a visit.

I tried haggis here for the first time and enjoyed it whole heartedly.

Nice place, our tour guide told us the story behind it and thought it would be nice to grab a pint from here with the missusWe arrived and were told we could not be served because last orders had been called. (My missus popped to use the bathroom so I sat at the side waiting) THEN a few minutes later, last orders WAS calledI get it if it's been a busy day and everyone wants to get home but for the sake of pulling 2 pints and washing 2 extra glasses it wouldn't have been much more effort (glasses were still full and the place was very lively, chances are we would have been out before the rest of the crowd anyway)I like to be on a level with people and did not feel it in this instance, however, I'm sure the owner would have been much more accommodating and this would have been a nice place to drink. Despite being turned away I'll offer up 3 stars

In a beautiful place full of history, one of the best "Haggis, Neeps & Tatties with wisky cream" you can eat in Edinburgh. The "Scottish Cranachan" is also fabulous! To try.

Great little pub, lots of character, our first time trying Haggis, it was excellent, as were the Stovies!
