Great service and grub. We had Lamb with Spring Onion & Bacon mash, Haggis with Black Pudding mash, Gammon with Scottish Cheddar & Chive mash. Plus Sticky Toffee Pudding. Lamb and Gammon were cooked just right, not tough or overdone. Haggis is well spiced. The bacon in the mash was like chunks of Gammon (ie not cheap cuts). Served predominantly by Kincso (from Hungary). Very friendly and efficient. The full team seem to coordinate well together and work very hard at this popular busy 'bar'. Definitely advise to book in advance.

Food was delicious, we had the bacon and spring onion mash and wild boar and smoked sausage respectively (photo is of the smoked sausage). Really great service and a really popular spot so worth booking in advance. One of the best meals we had in Edinburgh

The best sausage and mash I have ever had. I attended after finding this place whilst researching for my trip to Edinburgh, and I’m glad I found it. The food was wholesome and delicious. The sausages were unbelievable and the spicy mash was perfect for spice lovers. The beef fell apart when cutting into it and tasted delicious with the gravy. The puddings also deserve a mention as they were very tasty. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly. This is definitely a place that I will return to in the future and recommend to family and friend visiting Edinburgh. It’s also an independent restaurant so I’m glad to support it.

Delicious! The staff screwed up our order of haggis and forgot about it but they ameliorated the situation by taking it off our bill. Speedy service otherwise and the food is well worth it. The potato’s are not that creamy but they’re very tasty. Highly recommend the sausage, which was the best thing we had. First time trying haggis and it was great! The gravy was super tasty!

Delicious food with generous portions. Ideal location and extremely friendly & attentive staff. The variety of the menu was extensive considering the gimmick of the restaurant "mash-bar", and the facilities were incredibly clean. Prices may appear high but it's completely worth it, and considering the location the cost is to be expected. One of the best meals I've had in a while. Would definitely recommend this independent restaurant for lunch or dinner if you're in the area.Marvellous.

If you don't visit this amazing place while you're in Edinburgh you'll regret it.One of the best meals i have ever had. I opted for the veg sausages with cheese and chive mash and it was insanely good, followed with an incredible gluten free brownie, which I didn't need, but hey I'm on holiday. The staff were so great and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

We visited on the 23 of November and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. All the staff were great, really friendly as well as professional. I had the sausages with black pudding mash which was beautiful. The others also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Two had the gamon with cheese mash and the last had the Haggis on black pudding.Next time we visit Edinburgh we will certainly call back. If they open anymore restaurant's I hope they do in either Newcastle , Sunderland or Durham areas

I had the Beef Shoulder with Horseradish infused Gravy, paired with the Cheddar and Chive mash. Absolutely incredible, the beef was just falling apart and paired with the gravy and mash was just a perfect bite. It was also served with some kind of pickled carrot and parsnip that just added that little bit extra. Then I got tempted into the Apple crumble, comfort food at its finest! I would 100% recommend giving this place a visit.

We spent a week in UK and this was the best restaurant in all our travels. The meat is very tender and falls right off. The mashed potatoes and gravy were also very flavorful. Plus the drinks (beer/wine) on the menu actually compliment the foods which I found awesome. I think the girl who served us was Kincso and her customer service was amazing! On top of all this, I had forgotten my beanie at the restaurant and as we were walking away from the place, I saw the manager (maybe the owner, not sure) actually come outside and hand my hat to me. All in all, fantastic service for sure. Will definitely come here again next time we're in Edinburgh. PS: Must try the sticky toffee pudding.

10/10. Great comfort food, wonderful sticky toffee pud, and some great beer! Our experience made ever better by David who took the time to ask us about our trip and recommend some amazing places to visit. A friendly and warm welcome and kept that vibe the entire time. We were so glad to have stumbled into here tonight and couldn't recommend them more highly. Definitely a return visit in our future. :)
