Lovely restaurant with bright and alive atmosphere. Food was delicious and had a wonderful range of flavours. Pricing was okay too. The reason for 3 stars for me was the service. We went on Sunday for lunch and had a booking. Even then we were not greeted into the restaurant and had to wait for some time to be seated. Once seated we were quickly given water which was nice. However after taking our food order, it was around 50 minutes until our food arrived. I appreciate the restaurant was very busy but no one checked in on us in that whole time and there was no apologies for the delay. We felt like we had been forgotten about. The food is amazing so if you can go when it is quiet I recommend. However I feel like they may need more staff to deal with busier times and to accommodate customers if there is a delay.

The lunch was really nice and affordable. We really liked the meat dish below (forgot the name, but it was the one with yoghurt!), and the mussels were quite tasty.

A good quality - price ratio, the starter and soup of the day were very tasty… As a mains we had venison and gnocchi, were quite tasty and good looking. The service was great but the coffe was too acid for me! We’ll come back surely

Celebrated my birthday here a while back. Really loved very bit of this place. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was fast, efficient and we had a nice cozy corner table. Thank you for making my day extra special.

We had a lovely experience, the food was absolutely amazing, the staff was so helpful and friendly. My partner and myself chose different dishes for each courses so we could experience as much as we could. We started off with breads and olives and a bottle of red wine but our starters came out so fast, one after the other, I was a little bit annoyed because my plate that I was using for our bread and olives (appetizers) was being taken away from me without any choice by the waiter because of the starters coming out to the table. I think the starters should have come out when the customer has finished the appetizers or at least ask. Other than that, everything else was absolutely amazing. We would highly recommend this restaurant. Tasty food and lovely restaurant

Excellent restaurant with amazing food and staff. Although the place has a cozy, romantic vibe, well suited for a date night or "fancy" night, the staff was extremely accommodating in dealing with our family of 4, including well behaved 3 & 6 year olds. We were seated in a comfortable and cozy nook off to the side, with its own small window with a view of the castle. The menu had a number of intriguing options, and we ended up sampling 2 of the appetizers before our entrees, plus a side dish as an appetizer: the bread and butter platter, the mussels, and an mixed olive in oil dish. All were delicious, and well portioned, with the mussels among the best we have had.For the entrees, I had the venison (pic shared) while my wife had the pork, both were excellent with the venison being simply amazing. As for the kids, the kitchen was willing to throw together a simple pasta dish for them, which was cooked perfectly (not that they noticed as they polished it off). Unfortunately, we cannot comment on the quality of their desserts, as we were well satisfied with no room left.If you want great food, in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, this place is perfect. If you want some great food but have kids, don't shy away from here just because they don't have a dedicated children's menu. With the options they had on the menu, and the willingness of the staff to accommodate the young palates by throwing together something off menu for them, you will be more than pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended, and one of the best meals of our trip.

Been here a few times and it's always brilliant. Had to find a dinner plan on Hogmanay as another restaurant cancelled very last minute and their service was amazing. Fantastic food and drink too at a fraction of the price you might pay elsewhere in Edinburgh.

We all enjoyed our food. Service struggled a bit cause they were short handed. I think it took us 3 hours. I had the lamb which was delicious. Restaurant was so hot! I feel the prices weren’t too high though.
