The Ox in Edinburgh

Despite a promising website and well presented restaurant and bar, the service and part of our table of food was poor. We did not receive a check back or where asked how the food was. In all the service was provided in a disgruntled manner. Our lamb dish was not 100% with the other dishes getting great marks through to mediocre for the pies. We will not be re-visiting sadly.

The experience of the food was absolutely great. Great value and quality.However you have kicked out because the table was only guaranteed for 1.30 hours. Food service was not that fast to be eaten all in 1.30 hours and we have not advised before we seated. It would be great and much better experience if any of staffs told us again (even though they says it’s in the booking page.)

We booked a table of 8 people for lunch. We were greeted by a guy who showed us to the table, however he must of got bored on route and just walked away, we sat down at the table we assumed was for us. Odd to say the least. Tried to dismiss this then was greeted by a rude waitress who clearly couldn't be bothered, maybe the table of 8 was too much for her. Food was nice but terrible service. One of the worst I have seen.

I would safely say this is one of the best roast dinners in edinburgh. We loved the laid back sunday atmosphere and received great service by our waiter. Pro tip - get the brownie for dessert!

Had a great meal here the other evening. Lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff. The cauliflower starter was tremendous! Stylish artwork too. Top marks.

Great restaurant with a cozy, rustic atmosphere and friendly staff. The beef Sunday roast here is to absolutely die for and definitely worth going out of your way to experience, one of the best in Edinburgh. On the more expensive sides for a Sunday roast (£17.50), but in my opinion it was definitely worth the price! Would definitely recommend.

Took our younger daughter out for a meal, well our whole family, really enjoyed the food and to be honest the service was on point, everything went like clockwork!Comfortable surroundings and was really enjoyable.Highly recommended.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch while dining solo on a work trip. Staff were great and the food amazing. Make sure you book as it's in demand!

Fantastic Sunday roast here, faultless. Amazing starters too, nice smoked trout and good vegan options with tasty cauliflower wings.

Amazing veggie Sunday roast, really nice relaxing pub with incredibly friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh and looking for a great roast!
