We've stayed here twice, now, for 'staycations' as a family of 4 (mum, dad, daughters 9 and 12). We've had room #5 with two cots set out. The kids fight over who gets to put their cot in the 'Narnia Closet' (a large and unexpected walk-in closet in the room) and always beeline for the tea cakes in the mini fridge. We've had the best showers of our lives here, and enjoyed the large bath. Very comfortable.Everyone who assists us from the staff is always lovely, friendly, and helpful. The food has been delicious at all 6 meals we've had there (3 breakfasts, 3 dinners). And there's something on the menu to satisfy everyone. We're especially fond of the pancakes, ham hock, fish & chips, mac & cheese, and chicken wings. We just brought visiting family here for lunch today, and my husband got a chance to enjoy the Sunday Roast for the first time. Satisfied again.

Like the interior and outside area but food is mediocre and management often don’t seem interested in getting customers in. A lovely interior makes it more of a gastropub but the food is average enough (had quite a disappointing Sunday roast but nice fish and chips). The food is quite expensive so would expect it to be better. Really difficult to get a seat if you don’t book and management never seem interested in trying to get you a table. Not worth the effort to book for food and often not an option for walk-in drinks. Nice outside area but the heaters can be broken or out of gas.

Lovely atmosphere, the food is top quality but the drinks can be quite pricey but that is to be expected in the stockbridge area. Would definitely recommend using the outdoor seating area if it's not too busy. Look forward to using the hotel in future as we only used the restaurant and bar this time around

Lovely food and a good menu of drinks. Seating is ok there is only two. But seems to be a nice place for large groups

Sitting in the beer garden on a cold Saturday afternoon in December. Two gas heaters out of commission and two more ran out of gas while we were there. If you are going, wrap up well. Good selection of drinks but not the cheapest in town.

Phoned ahead to ask ask if a table would be available in the bar for three adults, a baby and two dogs in 15 minutes' time, was told that yes there were a few tables about to leave so it would only be a short wait, if any. When we arrived, the extremely unwelcoming lady at the door told us there were no tables available and there wouldn't be one available for us at any time. When I said we'd phoned and been told something very different she said a "decision has since been taken", whatever that means. It was the gleeful way she turned us away that left a very sour taste. We won't be back.

Lovely place for drinks and food, great light bites and cocktails in particular! Dog friendly and very spacious, overall, with large and comfortable seating areas both inside and outside. Great location too, in a nice part of Stockbridge.

Food was good although the chicken pie could have done with more chicken . Service was really poor didn't get my drink one round, then they ran out of Jack Daniels , they insisted I picked the alternative out of 2 options when I asked for Jim beam they decided to bring me bullet instead . A friend got ice cold red wine twice and the second time he complained they brought it back boiling hot. Oh and they had run out of malbec and couldn't make up their mind if they had another red wine . And more than once I saw them standing chatting when we had no drinks on the table. Trying to get their attention wasn't easy. All in all really disappointing and would recommend .

Beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We stayed here for one night and wish it had been more. From the warm welcome at Reception to the amazing rooms, complimentary snacks and sublime food it was easily the best place I have stayed.I loved the panelling and shutters in the bedroom, the welcome touches of a fan, hair straighteners, iPod dock; the free standing bath was amazing to relax in.Everywhere was spotless and beautifully presented. The dinner we had was fantastic and very welcome. The bar/restaurant was lovely. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful or polite or friendly. It really was a wonderful stay.

10 out of 10. Had a meal in the bar. The service was amazing. Probably the best service I've had in Edinburgh. They didn't interrupt while we were eating but knew when to come over and offer anything we needed. Food was top quality and enjoyed the atmosphere.
