The Rendezvous Restaurant in Edinburgh

Starter chicken satay just looked under cooked sauce nice . Chicken still red so left some. My friend also left some too under cooked looking red puts you off. Main : szechan chicken, there was alot of chicken . It could have had many more peppers and baby corn and other vegetables in it as it was just like completely chicken stew with poor flavour. Could have been more tasty tangy flavorful dish, spicy sweet with light soy sauce. Not today.

We use to come here over 30 years ago, the staff were never welcoming then and still aren't. Food is good but pricey. Disappointed .

Very tasty food: good service: from outside it doesnt look that appealing but is well worth the trip upstairs, would highly recommend it...seems to attract locals, not just passing trade tourists which I prefer

It's been over 25 years since I first set foot in the Edinburgh Rendezvous and I can say without doubt it is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the world. I don't live in the UK any more so when I visit I take every opportunity I can to sample their delicacies. 25+ years later it's just as good as it was then. This establishment is more than just a restaurant, it's an institution, a landmark that defines Edinburgh. Easily the best Chinese food in the city and one of the best in the country.

Lovely food as always. Not great covid compliance and some staff not very nice at all. One accused me of turning up early but I had electronic confirmation of my booking on my phone, no apology. They didn't want to hang up my wet coat then dragged it accross the floor to a 'cloakroom' service not the best. Great pity

A customer before me stormed out mumbling how rude they were. I thought she was being dramatic. Boy, I was wrong! The staff on the counter were so RUDE and CONDESCENDING that can make you feel you are begging her to have the privilege of her time to order takeout. I understand it is a busy Saturday night and hectic for anyone. I went to the restaurant next door instead for take-out. I was greeted politely and told that they were short staffed, and they were not able to take the order, like any respectful person would do. So, maybe locals are ok with this establishment, but don't ruin your trip if you are visiting Edinburgh. There are dozens of better Chinese and/or oriental restaurant options around the area. If this restaurant is already rushing customers to order, eat then get out, cursing when people are watching, can you imagine how they treat your foods behind the door ?! ...

Good food and service was impecable! I would definitely go again! They do add a discretionary 10% to your bill and prices don't include VAT but still decent!

We both ate in and had a takeaway from here, and the food & service were fantastic and very reasonable.We chose it from the reviews and were very pleased to say that it loves up to its reputation.We would definitely come back if we visit Edinburgh again

If this is the best Chinese food Edinburgh has to offer, I'm slightly concerned for the denizens of this fair city! Takeaway-level cuisine at best in a dingy space more befitting of a crack den than a restaurant. Edinburghians, you must have better somewhere.

We stopped coming here but I don't really know why.The food was fabulous and the service was great.The restaurant itself is basic but as I always say you go for the food and ambience not the decor(although sometimes it helps)We had a lovely evening and will be back
