The cafe looks cute, the staff seems to be nice, but the service is incredibly slow. We waited 10 minutes to move one position in the queue although three staff were behind the counter. Two vegan options were available which is ok, but not great. The cafe on the LNER train had more vegan options than the cafes in the botanic gardens.

Good little café in the middle of the botanics. Mango smoothie was kinda just watery though 😐. Oatmilk latté was nice though. Could be cheaper

A lovely atmosphere with loose leaf tea, coffees and home made cakes. Perfect for families too.

Recently renovated, lovely new layout and decor. Good quality food and drink but quite expensive. Also now only cakes and drinks, they used to do savoury snacks and small meals. Not sure if the main restaurant/ cafe is doing savoury menu.

Great experience today with a group of friends and colleagues. We pre-ordered the Botanical Afternoon Tea which is beautifully presented and delicious. Our group was a mix of vegans, vegetarians and carnivores, no-one was disappointed. Great service 100% recommend.

·

Coffee and cake great as usual. Lovely staff.Beautifully spaced out tables so that clinically vulnerable people like myself feel safe and relaxed.Soon be warm enough to sit outside and chat to the visiting birds.

The cafe has had a makeover with soft chairs and small tables. Fortunately they have kept some of the upright tables for those who need a higher option. A bar stool area with wall shelf for coffee replaces a serving area rarely used. Looks more continental. Still good coffee and tasty date and walnut loaf, which was shared between two. Peaceful on a Monday morning 🌄.

Excellent café for cake and coffee. Nice views, nice range of cakes, including scones, cakes, brownies, tray bakes and vegan options. Friendly helpful staff, good covid hygiene and general cleanliness. Up a little bit of a hill to get to but good path. ... did I mention the cakes?

Booked a table here to celebrate a 90th birthday. After a bit of a disastrous hotel booking mix up for relatives coming from out of town our table was held for us even though we were beyond late by the time we arrived. Lovely staff, didn't get the man's name who was a total delight and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Super food and such a beautiful setting. Highly recommend.

It deserves some stars because of the position in the Botanical Garden and the view. It's not bad if you have been walking around and wish to stop for coffee/lunch. It has many tables outside, which is lovely if it's a great day. Taken on its own, it's not a great café, though. The quality of the products definitely doesn't warrant the high prices and the place isn't even aesthetically pleasing. I know that's not of fundamental importance, but it looks like they made no effort at all to make it a welcoming place.
