The Walnut in Edinburgh

Ok easily the best meal I’ve eaten in months.. that includes many places in London.. the host Christopher was super charming, the food was beautiful, delicious, surprising, filling, elegant and well priced. The ambience is quaint and comfortable and not snobby or rundown. This place is an easy 5/5 and I wouldn’t come to Edinburgh without stopping here. It’s a MUST.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Your service was informal, but nevertheless friendly, personable and service-oriented. The food was delicious, not standard and a feast for the taste. If we are ever in Edinburgh again we will definitely visit The Walnut again.

This is a very special place serving delicious food that is beautifully presented. The service is friendly, relaxed and they check in that your meal is okay, which I think is very important. The restaurant has a cosy bistro vibe and serves Pilot beer. The set menu was perfect, and outstanding value at £25 PP. Out of all the brilliant places to eat in Leith, this is now my favourite.

Lovely restaurant with delicious well presented food. Good wine selection but you also have the option to BYOB. The staff were friendly and welcoming, it was lovely to see the restaurant was full. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be going back.

Absolutely fantastic evening! I came because of the BYO wine policy but the food is amazing - the presentation of dishes is Michelin star class and the balance of flavour is perfect. I'm reluctant to post this because it's a cosy space and I really want to be able to get a table next time!!

Easily the best meal I've had in Edinburgh over the last 9 months. Brilliant menu, lovely attentive service and BYOB. Check out the 'Walnut Whip' for example! Will definitely be coming back as the menu changes regularly.

A true hidden gem for Edinburgh diners. The lunch menu is amazing value. Can't fault the food. Every dish was Excellent! Service was on point. Really great hosts that went the extra mile to make you feel welcome and valued. Note to self - go here more often...

Incredible meal at this gem tucked away off the main streets. Wonderful service, felt right at home here and enjoy every dish. The beef haggis was especially good and all of the recommendations were on point.

I had lunch on Wednesday with a friend. We enjoyed it so much, I booked to go the following evening for my partner's birthday. Again, it was great. Good food, well presented. Staff very efficient and friendly and I like the decor. I can't believe how long it took me to try it out! Definitely worth a visit....or two 🙂

Very nice restaurant. Had lunch with wife and friend. We took one of each from set menu. All were very good. Really enjoyed the apricot tart tatin.
