This is one of the better Toby’s around. Lovely staff when we visited with the kids tonight. The beef and ham were good in my opinion, the others had turkey and enjoyed it. Pint of Guinness was on point. Good value for money. I came in last month after a hill walk and caught the breakfast menu. Fantastic value for money and again lovely staff.

This is the superior edinburgh toby carvery. Nice booths. Modern toilets (which admittedly lacked character). Good food (however no lamb like the west end branch). Have a friend called Big Money they gave him a box full of leftover meat thinking it were for his dog but it wasn’t, it was for big money

Amazing service! And even better food. Lovely place to sit and relax and have some food and drinks! And you can takeaway too :)

That was my first visit to the Liberton branch (obviously been in another one in past). Friendly staff and always to help to assist. I was with my 2 years son found a kids menu similar to ours. The food was fresh and tasty but the dessert was on a different level. Never had profiteroles served this way it was amazing to mix ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate and profiteroles simply wow. Worth of visit for weekend lunch. There is a massive beer garden during summer it has to be a fun

Staff seriously need training on how to respectfully speak to customers. Shocking attitude from the young straight out of school inexperienced shift manager Domenic. I suggest you remember your position, serving your customers and keeping your opinions to yourself as to whether you think a customers attitude is to your liking or not. You think its funny to slag me off to your staff in front of us after you refused a 50 year old a pint thinking id give it to my 19 year old son. Upon you being confronted to such you state MY attitude was bad LOL even my 19 year old son had to ask you to leave us alone to eat in peace due to your attitude. As to threats made upon leaving, grow up sonny, I had to tell you twice to mind your attitude while I calmly spoke to you about your attitude. Oh so gracious of you to allow us to finish our meals, If it was not for the fact my son took us out for a meal I would have left the meals on the table and left. 1st and last time we will visit the Toby carvery in Liberton after this bad experience. No shock regarding your reply, clearly left by the boy in question with no customer training.

Yesterday’s experience was very disappointing solely due to the attitude of the shift running manager. Not being sold a drink had been accepted by us with no voices raised or any aggression shown and Dominic came over next to our table and started clearly talking about us to his colleague, in front of us, while we were trying to enjoy our food. When we stated this was disappointing with again no aggression shown or any violent language Dominic started the argument himself being insulting and patronising. Had to be asked to leave us alone to enjoy our food. All other Toby Carverys have been very pleasant so would recommend to avoid this one. No plans of returning. - Louis

Felt l had to give a one star. Maybe Goethe poor staff who had to work here! The Boxing Day family dinner was just disgraceful. Poor starters, poor presentation, miserly quantity. Burnt, dry and indigestible roast beef, end of the joint. Completely fatty lamb which had to be scraped from the bone. Gammon was actually ok. Dried out and brick hard roast potatoes, appalling leftovers of vegetables, and nothing like the usual choice, cauliflower was way over cooked and watery ! Famous Yorkshire puddings ? were like cardboard, and no chance of cutting them! Goodness only knows what the thick brown soup was in a little bowl full of croutons ! The only thing in its favour was it was hot, in a freezing cold restaurant, even after we were moved to the back, no heating on. This restaurant has gone way downhill! After request to review, a miserly £20 voucher has been offered….. no thanks , not recompense enough from £120 bill to tempt any of us back …. such a shame as we loved Toby.

Meat was moist and tasty the veg was a bit dry under heat lamps but not inedible staff looked us after well. Sweets good portions. Very good value for money

Food was as dry as a pharaohs sock! Took my mum and she had some Christmas turkey sandwich which had 3 SOLID pigs in blankets! They'd obviously been in the ovens since last Christmas. Shocking and cold. Service was great and wasn't the floor staffs fault but cooks need a kick in the.........

Midweek visit. The restaurant was comfortable and clean. Carvery food and drinks were great value. Service was efficient and friendly. Food on the hotplate could have been a bit hotter though. All good except one thing and for us it was a big put off. The carvery server was wearing a filthy apron with what looked like liquids from meat spilled down the front. A chef also appeared briefly in another dirty apron with food stuffs stuck to it. This was really unhygienic we felt and let the whole experience down unfortunately. Would have been 4 stars.
