Stopped by to buy our group some lattes and we waited outside for our order (8 lattes). A couple had to use the restroom and they were pretty rude to us about it. Said it was for seated customers only. The place was empty and we were trying to be kind by not taking up their tables.

I have been to a few of the 12 triangles shops before and always loved the coffee and cake. One opened in Stockbridge and I was keen to try it and today I had the chance to do so with 8 friends from America and England. I told them I had been to other ones and it was great and so should this one, but after the way we were treated by a member of staff in the shop I will never be back.It was bitterly cold out, there wasnt enough seats for us all, but we went in and were told to wait outside until some customers waiting for takeaway had left which was fair enough. I took everyone's order and when 2 customers waiting for takeaway inside left, I went in and got drinks for 7 of us (2 didnt want anything) and I was told it would be about 10 minutes and we had to wait outside which was no problem. 3 of our group went in to use the bathroom, then a 4th lady in our group went in and a member of staff told her she couldn't use the bathroom as they were not a public toilet. She explained she was waiting for a coffee and was a customer but she was asked to leave.I went in and explained to the member of staff the lady who asked to use the bathroom was with us and we had paid for her coffee and could she use it and I was told "it seems like you guys are taking the piss, it looks like you are just ordering coffee to use the bathroom, the toilets are for seated customers only, it looks really bad when people from outside come in to use the bathroom for our seated customers and the others who used the bathroom didn't even ask and that's just rude, so she can't use the toilet."I felt this was really not good customer service. We couldn't see any signs stating it was a seated customer only toilet, if that was the case the member of staff could have been more polite about it. Also, if that is the rule it seems a bit strange that someone paying ÂŁ3 to sit in could use it, but our group spending ÂŁ20+ could not. Also, we know there is a free public toilet along the road, so why would we pay more than ÂŁ20 for the sake of using the toilet? After the way the member of staff spoke to us I suggested to the group we should just leave, but they suggested since I had already paid we should wait and get them.To add insult to injury, 2 solo customers who went in whilst we were waiting outside ordered takeaway, they used the bathroom and didn't get told not too.The coffees were brought out by another member of staff who was polite, apologised for the wait and we did enjoy the coffee, but the way the other girl treated us left a very bitter taste and never again will I use 12 triangles or recommend them to others.

The buns and other baked goods at Twelve Triangles are top shelf and unrivalled in Edinburgh. Today at the Duke Street Twelve Triangles the server was really unfriendly to the point of not saying anything while she served us other than a blunt sentence here and there. This is such a shame because the service today has put me off from a bakery I've visited loads as a local in Edinburgh. Would approach with caution if you are looking for a welcoming atmosphere. The baking is 4 star.

Staff member serving us was not very friendly and welcoming. Our flat whites were lovely though

Tried three different types of pastries, the baguette and we had espresso - all of it absolutely delicious. Outstanding quality. Strong recommendation.

Great quality patisserie as well as sourdough bread options and other food items. I go here regularly. I get the feeling the owners are a bit greedy, one person working on a Sunday regularly (this makes little sense from a number of perspectives - one person to make your coffee, take your payment, and package your stuff). Also, they stopped giving stamps in lockdown, a small thing but the business was booming and there is no need for that. I am a regular customer and spend a lot with them. I am beginning to prefer to support other cafés in the area which do not handpick the hours they operate and are open a full day.

What a fantastic bakery. We wanted to try everything but didn't have the time. The pastry is flaky and buttery and delicious. Definitely try the peanut frangipane and banana croissant! The buns were also great. All around brilliant.

My husband and I tried the vanilla doughnut, cinnamon bun and hazelnut croissant. Every single thing was phenomenal! It tasted wonderful! It was so delicious! It was shockingly amazing! I also had a orange blossom tea sweetened with honey and it was equally delicious!
