We had a very nice time with some tea and sandwiches. The counter is stocked full of delicious-looking sandwiches, pastries, and more and it was a tough choice. They don't skimp on fillings and prices are OK for what you're getting. Queue was quick and no problem finding a table to sit down.

Good independent cafe. Seating areas inside and out. Great coffee. Child friendly. Loos available. Highlight was the toasted pastrami sandwich. Going back for the cakes and pastries.

Amazing sandwiches. Reminds me of Parisian cafes.

Very nice atmosphere, almost like a Parisian cafe. It can get busy at times and staff have misheard orders twice. It is a good place to go for a quick bite of food. The sandwhiches were good for the price but tasted average. Pictures below is the tuna Mayo and their turkey sandwhiches. They also do freshly squeezed orange juice which is great and in winter they offer mulled wine.

We had taken the kids for a visit to the Edinburgh Christmas Market on the last day of School in 2021. After a couple of hours we went searching for a local and good coffee house. We came across Victor Hugo, which we thought we knew from the Edinburgh Meadows cafe. This was our first visit and it worked perfectly with the kids, great selection of snacks and they made amazing Babycinos for the kids. Great location and friendly staff too, with good value for money, Thank You!

A great quality cafe in an ideal location. They sell out of certain menu items- quickly- but still worth a try. Great people watching place - watching the world go by.

Everything perfect, big portions, great location.Friendly and attentive staff, the coffee is also good and the food delicious.Perfect for brunch or breakfast on your own or with company, the place is cosy and only two steps away from Princess street. If you look at the display your mouth will be watering.Cakes, little pastry, sandwiches and panini… all generously stuffed! So even if you need a quick meal this is a perfect place for that!Bigger seating area on George street and plenty seats outdoor. You should defo try it!

Rather busy so ended up outside, the service was very good and the food was some of the best of its type that I've had in a along time.

Whether you're looking to have a coffee, light bite to eat or something to fill your stomach, Victor Hugo Deli have you covered - brilliant selection of food and drink. I would highly recommend the Brie and Cranberry 🤩
