Cafe Panola in Pentland Plants in Midlothian

Lovely place full of art-y products from local and national artisans. The café is lovely too and always busy. Products may be on the steep end but that is expected of local shops given the economic madness these days.

I visited Pentland Plants today to get some compost and some lining for a set of drawers that I am going to re-use as planters (hate to throw anything away!). A lovely lady who worked there gave me some pointers about the compost and another lovely lady helped me with choosing the right type of liner for the drawers. Oh and I also bought some beautiful plants to go in said planters once I’ve sorted them!I love this place, the staff are always so helpful and their products are great, so much choice. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent selection of good value plants, many raised in their own nursery. Staff are pleasant and knowledgableFirst class tea room for either a snack or full lunch.

We arrived at the last minute for the restaurant. The staff never blinked an eyelid but served our meal with courtesy and patience and understanding. It was a great meal. Will return when in the area.

Nice atmosphere, recommend the Stromboli cappuccino with a generous sprinkle of cocoa on top. Nice vegetarian breakfast. Excellent scones but a little too dry, hence four stars. Helpful staff.

This is such a good garden centre. Healthy plants, wide variety, well laid out, tidy! ( some other places are scruffy), excellent gift shop ( didn't try cafe this visit), easy car parking too. Ooh and very friendly staff too! Can't wait to return!!

Nice wee shop and staff were lovely.The Cullen Skink soup tasted great, but only a couple of bits of fish.Our coronation chicken sandwich was a wee bit bland, but the bread was nice.Nice atmosphere though and maybe we just picked the wrong things.....the restaurant was quite busy, so obviously popular.Need to do something about the huge potholes in the access road though.

They have a huge variety of things to purchase and I love that your dog can enter as well! They gave great toys for both kids and dogs and obviously great garden supply plants etc. The cafe is also amazing and the food is delicious, definitely going back!

Had a delicious lunch of Cullen skink and a cheese scone with a latte. Soup was amazing and the huge scone to die for. My only complaint was coffee was to small for a regular. Definitely be back. Need to spend a bit time browsing as so much beautiful stuff.

Staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. I had my son in his wheelchair and was getting a few things, they helped me with my trolley when I was finished and took everything to the car 😊 I got beautiful plants and pots for my patio.
