Jaz's Fish Bar in Midlothian

I've used it for years but it's not as good as it used to be I placed a order no long after it opened chips were not as good or as hot either I'm going to use another place so that's why I've gave it 2 * prices have shot up as well .

Good food but nothing like the pictures 😂

I ordered a chicken and donar calzone but only received chicken. I then called up and explained but was told that I had to say mixed instead of chicken AND donar. If I ask for a chicken and donar then why would I just receive chicken when I clearly stated both which is MIXED. The man on the phone then said there is nothing they can do because it was already made even though it was his mistake.

Our go to chippy. Food has always been amazing, staff very friendly. Never had any complaints.

Adequate.Could not understand simple order. Fishcakes overdone and steak pie indescribable. Did not bother about protective masks.

Normally order from here on a weekly basis. 90% of the time something is missing or wrong. Not one to normally complain but after happening time and time again I think I should as a warning to other people. Getting charged for food that doesnt arrive or isn't right

I rate a fish and chipshop by the quality of its battered haddock. The takeaway fish looked good and was presented in the sturdiest cardboard box I've ever seen. I always avoid vinegars and open the box or wrappings as soon as I leave the shop to avoid moisture and steam making the fish soggy however this didn't help here. The batter had a life of its own and didn't really want to be part of the fish, making it hard to eat. The fish was OK given that haddock is still slightly out of season but the batter or paste as we call it, was a bit like a soaked chamois...about the same soggy thickness and slightly crisp or dried out on one side like it had been drying out in the sun. When I snapped of a piece to eat, the slimey paste immediately parted company from the fish which disintegrated into small flakes and it was wasn't easy to be able to eat both ingredients together. Maybe if I had a spoon. I'm told by those in the know that this is caused by incorrect cooking techniques...mainly temperatures and times as well as poor battermix. Its fairly common in some areas and worse in others. This wasn't the worst, where I've had whole fillets slide out of the batter casing like a sock...but it was pretty bad sorry. Fish and batter should generally hold together and I don't rate shops too highly that can't achieve this. .

The most salty pizza you can order 😳😳Food hot and arrived quick.If the salt in the pizza would be checked this would be a very good improvement as it was very cheesy but wow too salty.Fries are very poor Sorry 🙁

Used Just Eat to place order ! Got the burger deal! Ended up with wrong order! But they quickly fixed it! Chips were massive! Great service too x won’t use that app again! Going to download their own app x
