Pennycook Takeaway in Midlothian

Last couple of orders have been very disappointing. Chips were soft, like they've been taken out too quickly. King Rib wasn't nice and my son did not like his hamburger supper at all. Definitely feels like the quality is going downhill I'm afraid. With little competition in Penicuik there's probably not much incentive for them to be a really good chippy like they have been in the past.

Usually not too bad ordered last night and order was read back to us to confirm , order arrived and you should not have to open boxes to confirm , opened up and not what we ordered, more hassle than it was worth to return and all went in the bin , will NOT be ordering again

Used the delivery service a few times through lockdown. Food always arrived hot and fresh/tasty and delivery staff always chatty and friendly

Can’t really say more than it’s a takeaway. Looks great from outside and staff were friendly. Wasn’t anything overly special and not the best supper I’ve had but it is what it says it is

The best takeaway i have ever tried, the special fish is amazing and the attentions to the details perfect, nice box, a slice of lemon, tartar sauce, like in restaurant, the service is always unbeatable, kind and fast, and top of the tops: the pistacchio ice cream!!💥💥💥

Avoid this place. Got a bag of chips from here and they were DISGUSTING. My son had a sausage supper from here and 4-5 hours later started projectile vomiting. I can safely say we won't ever be returning.

Awful! avoid at all cost. First 'take-out' we tried since lock-down - their website claims to give 20% off first order - it didn't happen. Chips totally under-cooked, having waited the best part of an hour and very hungry children waiting! I finished them off in the oven (what's the point of having food delivered if you have to cook it yourself!?) Phoned to complain only to met with a very aggressive and defensive manager who passed the buck onto their website provider - flip dish. Appalling experience from start to finish! never stepping foot in the place if and when they ever open again. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Order regularly from here. Food is nice but order is always incorrect or missing items, usually both.The last 4 times I have ordered the same pasta, and instead of using the sauce with the description advertised, a substitute is made with no warning. This is not what I am paying for or ordering, as I am paying a higher price and receiving a menu item that is listed as cheaper.

We were really looking forward to home delivery of fish chips. It took an hour to turn up, the battered cod was so tough we couldn't eat it. I don't think it was cod and it was really overcooked. The other items were ok but the long delay and fish ruined the whole meal for us. Sadly disappointed.
