"The Stables at Mortonhall - Bar & Restaurant Inside the archway at the Mortonhall Stable Courtyard you will find the Stable Bar which offers a wonderful family dining experience coupled with a range of wines, spirits and beers of which the operators show great pride. The sheltered courtyard provides a lovely place to sit in the summer and equally as enjoyable is a drink by the roaring fire in the winter. There is outside seating in the stable courtyard itself. Indoors there are plenty of tables in the main bar area adjacent to a log fire that roars on colder days. Also available is the Saddle Room which can accommodate larger, and on occasion, private parties."

5 hour drive, told to book for food at reception which is fine but just wanted a beer. Queued up, no signs suggesting a delay for a drink, after 15 minutes waiting was told, taking no orders and no reservations, at 1800. Staff complaining they are over worked, 14 hour days and not being paid enough neither are recieving payment for overtime worked. I asked for just a single drink, response no I asked if other bars were close and told yeah fee about twenty minute away. Shame because last time we enjoyed a fresh beer here, I think the barman needs some time off.

Was here for a funeral tea. Very disappointing. Very cheap white bread on sandwiches tasted as though it had been frozen or at least chilled. For somewhere that states : "All our food is made on the premises – using fresh, locally-sourced, seasonal produce", the cakes were from a catering frozen pack, and hadn't been fully defrosted. Tea and coffee were self-service, which wasn't ideal where there were a lot of elderly people, some with mobility problems. No napkins, despite all being "finger food". Definitely would not recommend this place.

Friendly pub with decent beer and good quality food. Good pit stop for walkers and cyclists who can park up in the courtyard outside. The bar is a bit gloomy. There's a function room to the side which is much brighter. Toilets clean but need refurbishing.

Visited today with my family . Was a little disappointed . Haggis bonbons we’re a very small portion . Chunky chips I wouldn’t recommend. Have always enjoyed our meals in the past , but don’t think as a family we will be back .

This is a lovely, warm space in a rustic setting. A good selection of beers and a great lunch menu. The food was cooked to perfection.

The place is lovely and cosy. Had soup which was tasty. Can't really believe that the toilets still haven't been completely revamped. They are the same as they were nearly 30 years ago.

Unexpected visit after shopping at IKEA.Wonderful country pub serving excellent food and drink. Great service from young staff.Starter, mains, drink and couple of sides for 4 = £100. Nice.Seats/tables nside and out in courtyard.

Whilst this was our second visit here this year, I have to say that the quality of the food and service has dropped since our last visit. The service was rather chaotic, having 3 different waiting staff seating us, or taking food/drink orders ( after a 15 minute wait to order).Starter of soup and Brie and Mango parcels we're fine. The Main course of Steak pie, veg and mashed potatoes were rather a failure. The steak itself was of a rather poor quality in my mind, not to mention a rather iky taste. The mash also had a rather iky taste. All in all, needs to step up a gear or two in my view.

A dog friendly restaurant. There were at least 4 in when we were eating. A group of three dogs noisy if another dog was near but since we weren't too near them it didn't annoy us.Food is just fine. Service was efficient with pleasant staff. If I/ we lived nearer I/ we would return. A mid week February visit so relatively quiet, although surprised as there were many cars parked.
