The Joy in Midlothian

Do not bother to order from this place. The quality of the food is terrible. It didn't taste fresh at all. Even the chips were awful. Waste of money.

Ordered chicken fried rice with extra chicken when I got home was barely at chicken told me that chicken is expensive and that was a normal portion sorry but 95% rice is ridiculous won’t be back ever

Bone in my Sons Shredded Chicken/Garlic Chilli. Absolutely disgusted!! Chips cold and soggy!! In fact the whole meal is cold. Won’t use again!!

Nicest spring rolls I've had in a long time.

I would have given 5stars but the salt and chilli prawns are not worth the money for 8 prawns sorry joy, though I like the food from the joy the meals and normally really good but delivery charge now £ 2.80 for just up the road.

NEVER ORDER FROM HERE! Ordered food and waited nearly 1hr45 for the order to be incomplete. Would not recommend unless you have all day to wait 🙃

Terrible ! Crispy seaweed was black and cremated ,chicken satay was greasy and sickly ,prawn toast and spring rolls barely edible ,the egg fried rice was the only decent part of the meal to be honest,🤢🤢

I often have a Chinese from The New Joy. Never been disappointed. The meals are delicious my cats often get treated to the chicken. The staff and drivers are very helpful. I am sometimes restricted from going out. The drivers sometimes even go shopping for me.when I have had friends over its always on the condition they have a Chinese. I am having crispy beef and rice with chili 🌶️ sauce ten out of ten. Best in Midlothian.

Originally ordered from Peony garden a couple doors down (mainly as Peony offer a 'large' fried rice portion option, which is great for me as I tend to just have that and some curry sauce for my meal). Order was accepted from Peony, who then waited 15 mins to cancel the order, and we'll get a refund in 3-5 days apparently.. charming. No explanation/apology.So we ordered from here instead. 15 minutes later the food was here. Difference in service is night and day.Food is lovely, the fried rice tonight was the best I've had - just wish you would make a larger sized option available too please.Only thing I'm not keen on is the new recipe for the salt +pepper chicken, seems to be cooked in a sauce that I just can't stand the taste of now.Will be back!

Absolutely fantastic. I'm old enough to have eaten lots of Chinese food and this take away is one of the very best.The salt and pepper ribs were falling off the bone and really nice cuts - not too many fatty end bits that I'm not a fan of.Singapore noodles are fab too. Lots of chicken and prawns and a good balance in the "sauce" so it's not too dry.Curry sauce was excellent (sorry to go against your previous review Jojo). Hot, spicy and fab.The young guy that has served me every time is friendly, patient and helpful. Prices are good and menu options extensive. I've not used the delivery service as I'm only a few minutes walk away.Highly recommended.
