The staff were really friendly, welcoming & accomodating upon arrival & during our meal, top service. The meals were deeelicious. I had fish pie, didnt look much but was filled full with chunks of fish & was an ample helping. The small fish & chips was a good helping with the best chunky chips we'd been looking for, and the sea bass was perfectly cooked too. The deserts are not to be bypassed, presentation was superb & the flavours were equally as appealling. Although a wee bit pricey, I wouldn't be worried about recommending this place to eat.

Not been to The Sun Inn since the 1980 when I lived in Newbattle Abbey Crescent & 1990! I preferred the old place for food but the decor is nice, staff were great and very polite in greetings customer's! No complaints about service! Menu doesn't really have much choices! We had the fish and chips but didn't like potato skin chips and fish wasn't great with no taste! Mushy peas I've had better! We finished the fish but left chips and peas! Will go back and give it a 2nd chance one day tho! I've heard it's good for breakfast and coffee and cake maybe try that next time!

Had breakfast here this morning, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. It wasn’t that busy at 10 o clock and the service was pretty fast. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were excellent, quality ingredients and a pretty big portion size. Good value for money. Coffee is really nice in here and scones are lovely, huge aswel. The only down side was the room temperature through in the back modern part,It was a bit chilly. But to be fair it was freezing outside and I did just have a T-shirt on.It was a shame to walk past the roaring log fire and then be quite chilly I would have sat longer and had another coffee if I was round the other end. However the foods always good in here, easy the best value for quality food in the area in my opinion. 👍🏻

Wonderful lunch at the sun Inn. Fantastic, attentive service and great food. Couldn't find a single thing wrong during our hour here. Will absolute return

Wow what a place. The food was amazing and the service brilliant. We had a family celebration dinner and had 3 courses with drinks first. I had Draught beer which was delicious. My daughter had a cocktail which she loved. Our food was delicious and our server tried extra hard to make sure we were happy. We are about to book again for the family and visitors. Well done Sun Inn!

Service was slow the food was very disappointing I have been eating here for last 8 years and will not be eating here again sat in the cold back room not by roaring fire the pig on the plate was lovely in parts but some really dry pork the steak meal was awful very thin and dry no flavour the chips were tasteless the bread was charged at £9.00 and consisted of 3 very dry rolls with a very sour taste and tinned tomatoes with herbs put into a copper pot. This hotel must have changed hands it's so awful now not worth £95.00 for two people

Lovely venue!!!Would definitely go back !! But not on Xmas day ....for reasons only!!! At £85 per head on Xmas...not value for money !!! Just a little over priced imo£40.00 for a 5 year old ..who ate from children's menu ...and ate very little at thatA little Xmas background music could have improved the mood??Overall good but expensive!!! But sort of understood the reasons?? Due to the last 2 years of difficult times

Not their usual 5⭐️. I go here regularly for breakfast and it’s great for both menu and service. I took friends at 11am and there was nothing really to eat. No menu to speak of. Service was also slow for 3 coffees. We stayed for lunch and most of the food was good and service was prompt, but my salmon sandwich was poor. Slice of bread, lettuce and very dry, almost solid, smoked salmon. Others rated their food though.

Having been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner on multiple occasions I feel confident in saying that in my opinion the breakfast and lunch options are my favourite. Whilst the dinner menu is good it is not to my taste as I am not overly keen on seafood and so my options were slightly limited in my opinion. The food however is of high quality and is very well prepared. The pancakes are by far my favourite breakfast option and are filling without feeling to heavy on the stomach. I would highly recommend anyone to try this place for any of the meals or even just for a quick coffee. The interior is lovely and the staff are very attentive. Do try to make a booking though for the weekend so as to avoid disappointment as this is a popular location.
