Nice place to stay, the rooms are cosy, clean and spacious!

During my visit to Balbardie hotel I felt like an inconvenience for the female owner who was very arrogant and rude when I asked for information regarding the hotel facilities. The night porter to be honest was the only nice person working at this hotel. The female cleaner was shouting and swearing about mess that had been left from a previous guest an was overheard making nasty comments about the guest including derogatory remarks about their appearance which in turn made us feel very uneasy. We dined out so cannot comment on food. We will never be back to the Balbardie and would not recommend.

Friendly locals help give this pub a good atmosphere... Annoying thing is when you try and pick up outside, the people at the gym next door park all over the place rather than use the car park...

Fantastic staff, lovely room, cosy and warm. Made to feel so welcome, great info on what was going on in town. Will definitely come back. Price was very reasonable, included breakfast.

We stayed on a Saturday night. The welcome was fantastic....prior to checking-in, we inquired where we could park. The owner immediately re moved her own car from a parking space adjacent to the bar to allow us to park.We received lots of helpful info during our check-in. Our room was above the bar area and we were made aware that the bar would be very noisy until 12:30. We had expected noise when we booked...it is a bar after all.Indeed it was noisy. The bar is very lively and has a great atmosphere. We had a couple of drinks and everyone was friendly.Breakfast is Continental. Sufficient selection of cereals, bread, cheese & yoghurt.We loved the friendliness of everyone we met.If you're on a budget, this is a great stop-over. Edinburgh is only 25 minutes by train.Spotlessly clean, well appointed room for the price, friendly staff and patrons.
