The West Port Hotel in West Lothian

Just left the West Port Hotel and feel like I had to write this review 😢 firstly was served soup that was luke warm they did reheat and it tasted lovely then the main meal was served ,my husband got what we thought would be a bacon steak off some sort what my husband was served up was what looked like blop off fat 🤷‍♀️ I had fish which was floating in grease with reburn Chips and feel that the money we have just spent was a complete waste…..The only positive was the waiter and waitress was absolutely lovely and they have no control off what is being served.I have never written a review before for anything but felt I had no option in this case, I am afraid to say we won’t be back 😢

Had a lovely lunch and staff were great, very friendly and chatty, food was amazing and a lovely little hidden gem at the back of the restaurant the beer garden. Eiukd definitely recommend.

Was in the west port with two of my employees last Sunday and in the last few months after several bad experiences this was by far the worst finding it a hit or a miss. Being a Linlithgow local and having my own catering g business I like to support local.However my experiences have been as follows first time a few months ago had a big black hair on my gammon steak when bringing my parents for dinner was told it must have come from the egg? It was replaced but by then everyone else had finished eating. Second time was left waiting on my starter for 20 mins. 3rd time same thing when booked for a get together with work colleagues. 3rd time Father’s Day and ordered Sunday lunch my veg was frozen and I don’t mean cold I mean from freezer frozen.Then Sunday was the biggest waste of £66 pounds. Stuff on menu not available not told it’s not available till you order it. No beef for the roast dinner then when it came no Yorkshire pudding not lots of gravy roast potatoes were rock solid could hardly get my fork through them veg was pretty cold on comparison to the local old post office the quality and portions for the price was mikes apart. My colleague got fish and chips the oil clearly needed changing as the fish was dark brown not light and crispy as was his chips and my other colleague had chicken schnitzel which was also burnt solid on the outside no veg no salad nothing but a dry burnt lump of chicken and the same with chips. Asked for the bill and add to ask twice thereafter. Not good at all went home and had beans on toast total waste of £66 pounds.

The staff are very friendly and helpful.The inn/ Hotel needs a lot of tender care and update, room needed a good clean, only suitable for a couple night stay, would mot recommend any longer, probably wouldn't recommend staying over a weekend as it has a night club right behind and you'll be woken up when it is closes. The road out the front is very busy and noisy.The room was not cleaned or replenished, the whole time we were there (6nights). Even though we were informed they would do it on day 5. Had to ask to be replenished with milk, tea, coffee and toilet roll.The food was average, though I was unable to complete my meal due to being over cooked though we were offered pudding to compensate.

Spent a few days staying here with a friend, rooms are clean and modern. New food menu is amazing with great choices, breakfast fantastic too, would highly recommend the smashed avocado 🥑 on toast with poached egg and roasted peppers, staff are so friendly and chatty and have no issue taking time out to speak with you, highly recommend thanks for a great few days xx

We had an amazing Sunday Roast. Great quality and quantity. Nice staff also. We live in the area so will keep coming back.

Has only, in the last few weeks, become a place my, family and I, have enjoyed visiting. Been to the West Port on Four occasion's, and enjoyed them all. PS the staff are excellent too.

Sunday 1pm and the only vegan starter was sold out and on top the rump steak. Not even tried to offer any other vegan starter(e.g. salad). Don’t know what to say. Had to switch to no starter and rip eye steak, which was cooked well. Vegan burger was also ok. Staff was friendly.

Had a two night stay. Rooms small but very clean . New menu is fab and the staff are great. Will be back.

Just spent 2 nights here to get ready for a wedding, wow!! The staff were amazing and went that extra mile to make it special for the wedding party, the evening meal was lovely and the breakfast was just what was needed after the wedding, would definitely recommend this hotel as the rooms were clean too.
