Toby Carvery Bathgate Farm in West Lothian

I've been to Toby Carvery restaurants all over the country for nearly 20 years and can say hand on heart that this is the worst one. The moment we go there the woman who greeted our party was downright rude and obnoxious - genuinely a disgrace who shouldn't be working anywhere customer facing. People who arrived after us then had their food and drinks orders taken before us, and when we eventually went up to plate up our carvery, they had entirely run out of beef, several of the vegetables and even the gravy. They apparently have just the one container for the gravy rather than having one that they're always preparing to fill and one out in use. I say that because they took the empty one away for around 10 minutes, leaving two of our party of four with a dry meal - and the restaurant didn't give a s***. So for totally ruining the experience from start to finish they're getting 1 star.

Had a lengthy wait for carvery, due to shortages. Staff were outstanding at dealing with my partner and I throughout, very apologetic. The carvery was excellent and well worth the wait. Then when we went to pay the bill the waitress' said due to our lengthy wait there would be no charge! Best customer service we've ever received. Will definitely be coming back. The staff are a credit to Toby carvery!

No breakfast out, asked when more would come out was told 5mins from manager. Awaited 10mins and the cook come out with a sour attitude saying I would be waiting another hour for anything. Thus attitude continued towards other customers and myself. In no way was our approach to the cook in a badly manner.

Not been in a while but very good tonight. The chef was polite and courteous, They’ve added lamb to the carvery, I had that and the beef and it was top notch and a decent cuts aswell. , Usually you can see through it, but decent meat, tasty veg and 2 happy (and full) people :)Can’t wait to come back

Fantastic as always.. Having been to many this must be the best Toby in the group.. We went on a Friday, which was really busy and the buffet had some significant volume.. The chef was very cordial and helpful as we wanted some beef from an alternative joint he said he would bring it to the table which he duly did in great time even though he had an influx of more customers at 6pm.. The food was excellent as we have come to know from this Toby.. The service staff are fantastic too and even though under pressure, they are very quick at dealing with the needs of customers.. As a former director of a well known 5 * hotel company, it was a great pleasure to see a team that truly cares and is focused on delivering the job.. Fairly quiet except for the table of pyjama wearing children. Food was reasonable, plenty of it and enough choice. Only complaints, overcooked fried eggs (I like a soft yolk) and the bread was a little dried out.

I am pleased to say we had an amazing lunch today. Carvery was perfect, staff were polite, cheerful and professional. Our London family really enjoyed the food and ambience. See you soon

Actually really enjoyed it.I had the gammon and it was lovely and plenty of it.Both mashed and roast potatoes were nice although the mash did have a big lump in it.Still need to do track & trace, wear masks and sanitise hands, all tables and chairs were being washed down well after use.Back to serving yourself with the food you want.All in all a pleasant experience.

Went for breakfast. Have had better, but also had worse. The problem with these all you can eat places is the food is cooked in large quantities then left to keep cooking under a heat lamp. You either time it well or you don't. Staff were pleasant enough.

My partner daughter Son and I went here for our first meal out as a family my son was two weeks old. A child who clearly had skin illness was placed next to our table and now my daughter has it. Other than that food was okay. Staff were busy that day so can understand why they never really tended to us much. I have marked it low on the stat rating just due the fact 6 people were squished onto a table which only fitted 4 next to us and the child in question was close to my daughter. So basically too close with tables in the bit we were sitting at.
