Excellent food, great staff, good beer garden

Closed years ago. Now a Miller and Carter.

Hasn't really moved with the times. Very much in the style of an English country real ale pub in the 90's. No local craft beer, boring food and dated interior.

Servers good pub food and has outdoor seating.

Unfriendly, average food with above average prices

Decent beers but after three attempts still never had a good meal there. Service awful and food average at best

We had lunch for five today. The prebooked round table had been taken by three other people : apparently it had not been marked into the reservation book. One seat was so dirty we were obliged to ask for another table. The waitress, Lynne, was apologetic, and quick to set another table for us, in spite of being the only waitress visible in the busy restaurant. It would seem that she and the barman, Nathan, were the only restaurant staff on duty today - we certainly did not see any others. I can't praise them highly enough, especially under the circumstances : they were as quick as was humanly possible, and patient,polite and helpful at all times. I found the situation quite unacceptable - where were the other members of staff needed to ease their load? We spoke to other fellow diners, who totally agreed with us. I look forward to hearing your reply. (The actual meal was quite satisfactory.)

Great food and an impressive menu serving tradition pub grub as well as more unusual fare. The portions were very generous. Very child friendly with plenty of space for buggies and good, solid high chairs
