Bar Soba Merchant City in Glasgow City

Service was friendly and efficient but a little slow. Wasn't a problem for us as we weren't in a hurry. Food was really good and will definitely go back.

I love this place. The food is amazing (I've been several times and always get something different and nothing has disappointed thus far) and the drinks are nice too. Only down side is that it's pretty expensive, but they have a really good deal for students available Mon through Thurs. Despite how good it is I think without the deal it is a little overpriced for their targeted customers.

Came to bar soba for an hour. All the staff at the door were very welcoming and polite. Once seated, the waitress (Jennifer) we had was miserable, huffing all the time and totally didn’t care about the customers. Like at least pretend to smile. I get people go through stuff and can struggle but if it’s that bad she shouldn’t be working with people. Overall the cocktails were amazing and the other staff were amazing but she slightly ruined the experience for me and my boyfriend.

Had a really bad experience now on more than one occasion. Went at the end of last year and the service was extremely slow, gave it another chance yesterday and the service was even worse. Apparently were short staffed. Were seated at 2pm, took over an our for our starter to come out and 40 minutes for our cocktail, then waited another 45 minutes for our main meal and had to ask for another drink as ours were finished and no one came to take the empty’s away. Asked for the bill eventually and was given to us within 30 seconds. Overall service was terrible staff actually looked as if they had been out the night before and were rough. To add to it one of the staff spilled a drink on one of my friends and said sorry, placed ONE napkin on the table and walked away - just poor overall.

Absolutely loved it here and can't wait to go back! The food actually had spice in it, tasted authentic, the portions were MASSIVE, the mocktail was tasty and the service was excellent! I'm salivating just thinking about it. 🤤 We had the Korean fried chicken, red curry and Singapore noodles!

Lunch menu is decent! Staff were a bit disinterested. Don't reckon I'd go back for dinner but definitely absolutely worth going for lunch. Or probably would be good for dinner if you're going for drinks too as they have good cocktails. But there's no real appeal for dinner compared to other places nearby if you're going non alcoholic.

I've been here before several times, food in this restaurant is amazing, so I booked for my friend's birthday yesterday when we arrived at the restaurant our table wasn't ready and they offered another table that we didn't like, we asked for another table, there were few tables ready, they said they can't do it for us as no table is available.On website booking there is no option to choose where you want to sit or the table, we had argument why she(Manager) can't give us other empty table after few minutes nonsense argument she said ok you can have the table you pointed the first time you arrived!! We sat on the table and after a few minutes the staff did this process for other people so easily and they changed 3 tables!!!The staff attitude wasn't polite, especially the manager, music sounds was very high and we couldn't talk to each other, never expected it!!!

So disappointed with lunch here. Terrible experience and had to send back the food. Even had the cheek to charge us for a meal that was sent back, which was grudgingly taken off after we mentioned itHave been going to Soba off Buchanan St for years and it’s been superb, tried this one and would never come back based on the small, mismatched portions and hardly any meat with the noodles.No apologies from the manager who clearly didn’t care and the staff seemed to imply it was our issue with the food.Seeing other reviews, I can see we’re not the only ones who have had issues with the portions.Edit based on restaurant comment:We sent back two of the meals and didn’t get a replacement. Therefore we paid for the two replacement meals and didn’t for the two we sent back. We were originally charged for 3 meals until we pointed out that we’d sent two back. So I feel my comments are still fair representation of our experience.

Food and cocktails at Bar Soba are fantastic.The satay sauce is amazing, I would very much recommend the nasi goreng which comes with an egg and it’s perfect.I wanted to mark it down a little as being as I sat outside when you order drinks to the table and it took 25 minutes even though it wasn’t busy.That being said I have been back frequently.

Amazing place! Very comfortable and staff are super friendly and cheerful; really positive vibe. The food was amazing and they also offer great lunch deals. We will definitely be back soon 😊
