Mango in Glasgow City

Cuisine: Spanish

"Holiday-happy, kitsch and colourful, Mango Tropical Bar & Restaurant brings a sunny sweetness to Glasgow! Brimming with beats from Latin America and the Caribbean, this three level restaurant-bar and club certainly creates a deliciously different night-time music feel showcasing everything from reggae and ska to latin and salsa for that ultimate easy-going feel. In keeping with the sultry South American theme, Mango Tropical Bar & Restaurant is designed with a bright, vibey look, particularly its slap-dash style collage of colourful posters and maps, so you'll immediately feel like you've been teleported to a boozy Brazilian barrio."

Nice environment, but I can definitely say that mostly south american and spanish people enjoy it more than anyone else. Everyone is welcome, it's just that whenever I've gone with friends I end up enjoying it more than them as I do know the songs.

I was with friends and we were joking with each other. Then security guy just came to me and asked me to leave out of nowhere without even talking with my friends. The way they handle things utterly rubbish and there are other places where people enjoy the night much better than here. I don't know if is this place like this but definitely they should arrange things around otherwise there is no point hiring 8 security guards if they become obsessive controlling people around like this. If someone harrasses someone physically, you can understand, attacks or does something worse yes but just because someone says a funny joke or in a friendly way you say the between jokes or whatever, who are they to just be aggressive like that? Here is not a third world country but it feels like it based on how they react.

Absolutely beautiful establishment, fresh flowers on the table. Whoever designed it is very creative. However the staff was a tad rude.

THEY DON'T LET YOU IN IF YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN.I am spending a weekend in Glasgow coming from London. I wanted to dance some salsa. The bouncers did not let me in saying "You are on your own and we have a policy not to let in anyone coming on their own." When I asked why and said I was happy to let them scan my ID they still said no and added "If you get drunk, there will be no one to take you home."I've never had an entry denied at any salsa venue in London or anywhere in the world before...

Cool club, reggaeton music upstairs, pop downstairs, wasn’t very busy, quite a few creepy guys though. Even old men who came alone and were stood watching, made me worried about spiking..

Awesome latín restaurant/bar with authentic food, nice crossover latín American music, creating a fun environment, pretty sure could improve on cocktail selection/proper recipes and table service. Security staff do a great job always keeping an eye on any issues, bartenders were really friendly. Overall nice experience

Absolutely appalling service before even entering! The bouncer was very rude; she verbally attacked me upon entry using foul language. When i explained that i did not appreciate the way she was speaking to me, she tried to justify her behaviour by saying that is 'just how she speaks'. That is is not how any paying customer should be 'greeted'. I was a regular at Mango and was actually there to introduce my friends to the place for the first time. We are so shocked and deeply offended. None of us will be back now.

Great place for Latin dancing especially Bachata and Salsa. Love the vibe. Drinks are okay but slightly pricey. One thing which is really disappointing is that the cloak room is no where to be found and very badly sign posted. We would have loved to leave our jackets in the cloak room but it was not identifiable when we arrived for dance classes ( probably because it was still closed, we used a different entrance) nor did anyone know as the sign posting is just terrible. Hence people end up leaving jackets everywhere. My friends jackets where stolen with house keys. Bouncers were really unhelpful when this happened. In the interest of the place's security, cloak room the bar should work on making the cloaks room more accessible and in general push towards it being used. Similar security issues occurred a while back in a bar on bath street and they responded by introducing a identifiable and affordable cloak room so that there was no piles of stuff everywhere. Maybe something to think about for the mango management.

Always lovely, whether for a night out or salsa classes or a quiet evening drinks. Like the music here both the Reggaeton and the dance music which is played on other floor. Would definitely recommend.

Was here two weeks ago. Really nice people! Only had some beers and the chocolat fudge cake (the girl with the curls did me a good deal with the cake). The atmosphere felt great and the prices were fine. We're fond of the girl with the curls, she came to chat with us and we had a laugh. Def will go back if it isn't only for the cake!
