Nippon Kitchen in Glasgow City

First time at a Japanese restaurant and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and had us seated in no time. I started with seafood gyōza and then had the Suzuki sea bass which was perfect. Overall an enjoyable experience. Its definitely worth a try.

I had the Kushiyaki grilled prawn skewers as starters and grilled Teriyaki salmon rice dish as the main course. Both were not properly grilled and lacked the crispiness. They were also under seasoned and smothered with teriyaki sauce to the point it was overwhelming. To my surprise the grilled Teriyaki salmon rice dish had 3 of the thinnest strips of salmon and was quite frankly not sufficient as a main dish. The pile of pickled ginger must have weighed more than the salmon. The waiter was not familiar with all dishes and also got our order wrong. It did not quite live up to my expectations sadly.

Friendly and attentive staff, amazing food, quick service. We look forward to dining here again. Portion sizes are very generous, so arrive hungry or split a meal with a friend! Recommend the duck donburi and the plum wine. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Particular commendations to the lovely young Spanish/Italian waitress who helped us choose.

Love the Sushi and Sashimi here! Bento boxes are great for a lunch too! Have been coming back for a few years now as everything is fresh. Never had a bad meal. Highly recommend Nippon Kitchen for a tasty treat!

Went for lunch with my mum and the food was absolutely amazing as well as having an amazing drinks selection. The staff were all really friendly and food didn't take long to come out.

Delicious food. Gluten free menu is great too (mind you no gluten free deserts at the time I was here) and their kitchen is completely nut free which is brilliant. Service is fantastic, the people are so lovely. Atmosphere is great as well, love the decor and attention to detail.

Exceptional restaurant. Come here often and never disappointed with the food! The staff are wonderful too!Unfortunately had a bit of an uncomfortable interaction with another customer that approached my friends and I's table during our last visit, but the staff were quick to address it to make sure we were all OK and the manager working that evening spoke with the other customer. This was all without us having to even say a word to any of the staff about the incident, they handled the situation so well and we were very thankful for it.

I would have given four starts but I am giving two as I tasted the meal together with my Japanese colleagues.This place cannot call itself Japanese: the rice was too hard, the yakitori far from how it should be, the teriyaki sauce too salty, the miso soup tastes just like tap water; the sashimi and the katsu curry were all right. Service a bit slow and the drinks normal.

Rather disappointed with this place. The ramen broth was bitter and sweet with no depth of flavour. The tuna sashimi tasted fishy and was sliced as thin as smoked salmon. The chicken karage was so dry it was inedible. We were looking forward to our lunch but left really disappointed. Service was fine.
