The food here is very good, however when I visited the beer was very watery and the person pouring didn't pour full pints. A trick to maximise profit at the expense of the customer. However, the reason the Shish Mahal gets one star is the inhospitable and standoffish attitude of certain staff members, and the unequal treatment of certain diners. It's clear that some guests get the red carpet rolled out for them, while others barely get as much as a smile.Another red flag is the fact that bills aren't printed but added up and written down on a notepad, this means that bills are illegible and therefore open to manipulation. Not good practice at all.Go for the food to try it, but I guarantee that those looking for friendly and professional service will be bitterly disappointed. Also posted this review to Trip Advisor, where I saw the manager's response to someone who was complaining about the extortionate prices (quite right) was: we hope to see you once your (financial) circumstances have improved. This is the snobby attitude you'll be greeted with when visiting this restaurant.

So a strange experience. The courses were MASSIVE. Holy God who could have those starters? They were lovely, but too big, and put us off the main course most of which we had to bag and take home.I guess that means its excellent value, but honestly it was way too much. And the decor and lighting were garish, unseemly, and uncomfortable.Honestly overall, not a massively pleasant experience. Didn't hate it, the food was good and the portions were generous. But wouldn't return.

Not as good as the old shish on Gibson St but curries in Glasgow have changed over the years but it's still one of the best curry houses in Glasgow

First ate in the Shish in the early seventies. It's still as good as it ever was. Nice food, professional staff and good service, what more can you ask.

Best Restaurant till date.We went here last week searching for Indian restaurants, and found this restaurant as the best one amongst all Indian restaurants, we have been to, so far. In Glasgow, we have been to almost 25+ Indian restaurants till date, and we found that this restaurant is way ahead of others. The taste of the food was quite authentic and quantity wise it is quite good, a perfect value for money restaurant. The staff was amazing and the ambience was quite good especially in the current situation of Covid. The restaurant is quite hygienic and clean. Continue the good work and we look forward to visit soon again.

Best Indian food I've ever had in Glasgow. Very generous proportions for the price, and the younger servers we had were lovely. It's a shame our night was let down by the following reasons:1. We were seated next to the table with all the takeaway bags which meant we had unmasked uber eats drivers come near us throughout our meal, and it spoiled the atmosphere for us. Especially as they could have sat us at an empty table further away..2. The manager/owner (the man wearing the suit) and several of the older staff were not wearing masks. The younger staff were all wearing masks correctly, so it seemed like those of higher authority felt like they were exempt for some reason?3. The man wearing the suit was watching loud videos from his phone behind the bar, and it was distracting and spoiled the atmosphere. It's just not something a staff member does in front of customers in a nice restaurant!

I have eaten Indian/Pakistani food worldwide including three visits to India. The Shish Mahal remains the best of this cuisine I have ever eaten and retains a remarkable level of consistency while maintaining their traditional house style. A must visit for any true curry lover!

Best curry in Glasgow!!!The Shish is just off Great Western road, near a subway station and close to The Stand comedy club. They claim to have invented the tikka masala. I don’t know if this is true but their food is amazing. They’ve been there for a while so it’s a smooth operation, silver service style waiters but in a laid back environment - they’re friendly and you don’t need to dress formally. The food is usually brought to you and cleared promptly. The garlic naans are huge and tasty. The chilli chicken basaar is a favourite of mine. Prices are reasonable, not expensive but not dirt cheap. They are licensed but the food is what you are there for.Do visit, you won’t regret it!

Food is excellent hence I gave one star. But restaurant staff attitude was worst. They were interested in only white people and didn't pay attention to other customers.Other worst part was they didn't give any itemized bill for the food we ordered. There is one aged guy who is rudest person I have ever seen. Also his assistant looks like he was manager also had worst attitude. My little one told them food was excellent but the manager and the aged guy didn't even pay attention.Very rude staff. Looks like they were feeling ashamed to serve food to south Asian folks. They were busy licking white folks from head to toe. They didn't even opened the door while we entered/exited the restaurant even when the manager and the other staff (owner) was standing near the door.I am not surprised looking at other Indian guys reviews accord with mine.
