Brilliant cafe, good food and friendly staff. A step back in time. Love it.

The only fish'n'chip shop in the world with a Michelin Red Star.. and still only £7! (Also best ice-cream :)

·

For the price, a very good fish and chips. Though fried Mars bars weren't on the menu, they happily made one for us. Pleasant service.

I have been visiting this café for over 40 years however I was extremely disappointed on my last visit. The café had ran out of the only one thing that is vegetarian on the menu, Mac & Cheese. The waiter said it would take a while to make more. I said no problem, I don't mind waiting. The waiter then replied the chef is very busy and won't be able to start making more until after lunch. I clarified, so you are not going to allow us to wait? No he said so basically I felt I had been thrown out. Those behind us in the queue were also confused why we were leaving. I said they have nothing I can eat and won't let me wait so basically I have to leave.I WONT BE BACK!

Nice ambience - unchanged for many decades - but unfortunately the quality of service was also a throwback to the past. Good ice cream, though chocolate fudge cake was dry.

Glasgow classic. Welcoming staff. Pie, beans and chips..Peas with vinegar!

Brilliant cafe, original decor probably from the 50s, range of breakfast rolls and dinner options. I had square sausage and egg in a roll, delicious. Lovely espresso as well.

What a unique place!! The exterior of this cafe immediately caught my eye and although I was aiming for indian food, I could not miss this spot, so I walked in right away. And it was an excellent desicion! The friendliest waiter greeted my, and the interior took my breath away. It was so unique, so vintage, I couldn't stop taking pictures. I've ordered the vegetable soup, which took me back to my grandma's house and fries with curry that needed a bit of salt, but where quite okay after all. Although I was full, after seeing the sertificates I couldn't say no to their 100 years old ice cream. The waitress let me try all the ice cream flavours before ordering any, which was very nice of her. I chose the biscuit one and for everyone ranting about the prices - I got a one hell of a big scoop! Enjoyed every second of it. Once again- a truly unique place... I hope to come back here one day

We went here as part of Madeline Miller (Maddy)'s "Wee Food Tour" on a Tuesday in July 2019. We tried four different flavors of ice cream and they were all very creamy and bursting with rich flavor. Would definitely recommend!

Haven't been here in decades since my student days and it looks like it hasn't changed much. The design of the cafe is still very much in the Art Deco style and has celebrated it's 100 years in business. The interiors are just as I remember with a mixture of fold down chairs and booth style tables. Yeah, you heard that right, fold down chairs. Something like the folding seating that you'd get at a sports stadium, but plusher and more comfortable. The food and menu is very much stereotypical British style cafe with the added bonus of lots and lots of ice cream and milkshakes to take you back to childhood. The cafe still has lots of sweets behind the counter to buy. All laid out in those plastic containers like you used to find in the traditional sweet shops. Okay, so the food isn't healthy and I'm now a vegetarian, so there's far fewer items on the menu that I can eat. The chips with cheese and curry option sounds like a coronary too far, so I just went with the chips and fried egg and a cup of tea. Having stuck firmly to the healthy side of eating for so long, I'd forgotten just how good a good old traditional Glasgow fry up can taste. Thanks for the food and the memories and hope this cafe stays in business for another 100 years.
