Wonderful afternoon tea at MAR HALL ā¤ļø. Dainty sandwiches and possibly the best scones in the world! The environment and setting is LOVELY!

Played the golf course April 2022 - thourghly enjoyable round, course has a good mix of straight away holes and doglegs, with some hidden ponds and bunkers. It was generally a fair test off golf. Condition was good for time of year although the greens were still a touch bobbly and sandy.

Stayed here with my wife as part of a midweek package deal. From entry until exit staff were first class and very accomodating no hidden costs either. Food and drinks no complaint's compliment's to the chef. Room we had was a deluxe?? room on the ground floor room 24 to be precise. Room itself was spacious and had all standard hotel room requirment's. Other than being a bit dusty and a couple of cobweb's I have no complaint's with that. Missed the opportunity to sample the SPA and pool given the closing time after arrival. Will go back at some point. Thank you Mar Hall ...

Really disappointing spa experience, massage billed as 55 mins took less than 45 from us stepping through the door. Spa facilities were distinctly average and not those expected of a 5* hotel, the only jacuzzi pool available we were told cost an extra £20pp for less than an hour (this is not declared either online or through email booking, very deceptive given it's the main picture advertised on the website). Lockers broken, toilets broken and smelt badly. Perhaps if they treated customers better the place wouldn't have been so empty on Valentine's weekend. Save your money and go to Cameron House.

Very nice country house style hotel. We visited for afternoon tea but stayed for cocktails and were delighted to find a pianist playing Christmas carols to really give a lovely Christmas feel to the afternoon. Comfortable and welcoming, maybe needs a little TLC here and there but that could also be charitably described as shabby chic. Several white vans parked at the front of the hotel spoiled the Grand entrance and was a surprise to see on a Saturday afternoon. Especially as they seemed to be from the nearby golf course, as the cleaning of muddy golf carts and shoes all over the place did little to enhance the initial experience. Would have rated higher if first impressions had been less agricultural.

Excellent location, excellent architecture and layout. Our meal was spoilt by serving undercooked vegetables. These were gladly replaced but still the same... Otherwise, a lovely setting for a day out.

Are in the restaurant here. Service was excellent. First 2 courses were very nice. Dessert was appropriate for a poor school canteen. A fact recognised by having them taken off the bill. We did point out that they had also missed off the wine.

Stayed here just the one night soon after our wedding - had a fantastic massage followed by 3 course meal at the restaurant. Staff were fantastic, and food was lovely. We had a great room overlooking the golf course… probably spent a little too long sitting and taking in the golf…!

A special building in a special location, but overall a little underwhelming given it is marketed as a 5* hotel. We stayed for two nights and found the hotel inside to be a bit tired and worn. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night which was OK but nothing to write home about. Staff were all friendly and the golf course looked nice and well maintained (though we didn't have time in our schedule to play).

Beautiful building and stunning views/location but sadly let down by the Management team and staff.Had a family wedding booked in 3+ months ago and as final details were being confirmed, they had somehow ā€˜lost’ the booking, despite deposits being paid and a contract in place. Thankfully no one else had booked in for the same day, so the booking could be confirmed. Imagine the nightmare situation if it had not been available for the requested day.I had requested that the Bride and Groom be booked in for an extra night, this was done during an in-person visit two months ago. They didn’t take the payment at the time as they wanted the Events team to do that as there would be a special, given the existing wedding package booking. No one ever called for payment, so I assumed it had just been rolled in to the main wedding package. During final confirmation checks this week, found out if hadn’t, so very surprised that no one had bothered to call.I immediately called the hotel to make the payment and was advised that they don’t offer a special rate, so charged close to Ā£600 for the normal room rate for a Grand Suite. During normal business times I typically stay 100+ days a year in hotels and I have NEVER been in a hotel around the world where there is not a special rate when you are hosting some kind of event (wedding) and want to book additional rooms. Apparently the owners of this property insist on this rule, so be warned.Even worse, due to the lack of response over the past two months, it now makes it incredibly difficult to find a nice, alternative hotel for the extra night. Definitely feels like a deliberate ploy by the hotel to leave it as late as possible, so there’s no option to book an alternative suite somewhere else and then change from the promised special rate to rack rates at full price.Stunning building and location, but given their 5* branding, just be very aware that this is not the level of service you will actually receive. Cannot recommend this place for an event of any type, or even just spending a night or two in the hotel. They will manage to mess it up somehow.
