Been going since 1973, outstanding food, friendly welcoming staff lots of regular customers.Very good carry out.We have been going regularly to the Shimla Cottage for over two years now and have never been disappointed by the staff, the food or the friendly welcome.Still as good as ever April 2022

My partner and I had our dinner here on Friday night. It was clean, welcoming and the staff paid attention to detail. They had a group of young waiters that were learning their trade. They were all polite, friendly and were a credit to their senior staff. The food was superb, the wine was also excellent. To top it off, one of the friendly staff members offered to drive us home when we asked about booking a taxi. We will be back again soon, top class!

Disappointed . First time try due to good reviews for a Mid week take away . First impressions on pick up . Nice restraunt, friendly staff member . Food ..... Garlic nan very dry (crispy edges) . Pakora small pieces, small portion and chewy . Tasty mains but again not generous. Never again !

Truly in awe of this place. I love Indian food, I have been to dozens of Indian restaurants and this is up there with the very best. A little gem

We ordered a take away from here tonight for the first time. The quality of the food was average but the portion size of the pakora was really quite small and the amount of chicken in the curry dish was again very small. For 2 of us we shared a pakora, poppadoms and spiced onions, a fried rice and a chicken dish and a garlic naan. With delivery the total was Β£33.30 which we thought was a little steep for an out of town restaurant. But if the food was top notch, it wouldnt have been an issue. Sadly it was all decidedly average. We gave it a go but it will be a one off.

Very friendly helpful staff. Food very tasty, chicken pieces in the curry nice and tender. The nan bread was also very soft and tasty. The homemade tablet given when we paid was also excellent ππ

Ate here tonight on the spur of the moment. We were very warmly welcomed and shown a table by the window. The food we ordered was delicious. Advice was offered on certain dishes and it seemed nothing was a problem if you wanted some ingredients tweaked here and there - this shows all dishes are made from scratch. Remember to order coffee as it is served with delicious home made tablet. All in all a super meal, nice surroundings and genuinely attentive staff.

This is the best Indian cuisine restaurant ever. The food is all made fresh to order and tastes absolutely amazing. If you want to adapt the dish, they will do so to suit your taste. The descriptions of each type of dish on the menu are really helpful and they have a personal touch too. As for the staff, they are just so lovely. They make you feel welcome, special and the fuss they make over your kids is second to none. Thank you for always making our dining experience superb. If you haven't been, then go. I guarantee you will not be disappointed and you'll definitely go back :)

Food is really good but too expensive. Was charged Β£6.20 for rice so doesn't matter how good the food is there is a limit to making a profit and ripping it... Back to the Saffron in Kilmacolm for me least l could have a takeaway every night there for one nights meal at the Shimla.Called Shimla and the misunderstanding was sorted. Can't fault the food here ,its outstanding .The management very polite and friendly. Five stars for the foodππ
