Lovely place with great food and very friendly staff

The open doors of this hotel were the most welcome sight on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon for a group of 9 cyclists doing the Hebridean Way. Place was already busy and we had no booking but they squeezed us in and served up a delicious meal. As we were cold and wet, and camping gear damp from night before, 5 of us booked rooms with the others allowed to camp in the grounds.Staff and owner couldn't have been any more welcoming and friendly - so glad we stumbled upon Doune Braes - thanks again

Fantastic warm welcome from all staff made to feel very welcome by the owner Eileen. We had evening meal and was very nice not Gormet pub food but was good.Let us park for the night free of charge with Motorhome and we booked in for breakfast for a treat which was very good.Highly recommend this place would return 👍👍

Friendly service, food was tasty enough although a bit over priced for lunch. Curry could have been better if served with a poppadom or nan

·

Wonderful afternoon tea and came away with the recipe for a fabulous not to be missed cake. Staff were lovely.

·

Absolutely lovely place, very friendly and a fantastic breakfast.

·

Very small and basic menu, which is mainly focused on seafood which not everyone is into. Friendly staff but tired looking building.

·

Very helpful great staff decent atmosphere clean rooms don't be fooled by the outside it's quite nice inside and the foods decent

A very welcome sight after a long day in the saddle on our Hebridean Way by bicyle. Highland hospitality. Dont let the exterior put you off. Room was clean and comfortable. Electric shower good. Wifi in the room was very weak but good in the lounge. We didnt go in the bar itself but locals come too adding to the atmosphere. Owner a lovely lady (sorry, her name escapes me!) who organised us a great packed lunch for our last stretch to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse. Fresh fish and chips for dinner which hit the spot exactly.
