We had a delicious dinner here on Saturday evening. The menu that night was buffet style and was really good, tasty home cooked fare.Great service from owner.There is no alcohol licence but you’re welcome to bring your own.

The food and cafe are both special. The food is fresh, simple and very tasty. The cafe is a former school room. When we called we were greeted in the car park by an affectionate, courteous spaniel. A little later several children, relations of the owner, tumbled into the room and with their chatter enhanced everything. The visit to the cafe was a highlight of our stay the Isle of Harris.

Good food in old school rooms. Went on a music (unexpectedly) but enjoyed the evening. You must book a table tho.

An old school in the middle of nowhere. Still has many original features. Stopped for lunch and had a great jacket potato and a large pot of tea.

Quirky surroundings in a former school building. The staff are friendly. Recommend you book in advance if you’re looking for hot food which was great.

Surprising Uig!This part of Scotland (and not only) was a huge SURPRISE to us.Apparently not sensational, if compared to others in the country; but with a subtle charm that, little by little, gets inside… and you can never forget it anymore!Loch Croistean Coffee Shop was one of those wonders: much more than just a coffee, A FULL-BLOW RESTAURANT, in the middle of “nowhere”.The place itself is so PECULIAR, NICE AND COMFORTABLE; and the MANAGEMENT (great Marianne), couldn’t be more PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY.We went there on a Saturday night, so we had the chance to enjoy their 4-course dinner. But also so difficult refraining from doing that!So we tasted everything, and the mains were AVERAGE TO GOOD; however, appetizers and desserts were simply DIVINE.PRICE PER VALUE: VERY GOOD.Good to know: the cafè doesn’t have licence for alcohol.Cherry on top: after leaving the restaurant, a few miles from it, we found a group of dears pretty close to the road… So grateful for all those gifts!!!

This small cafe/restaurant is an absolute gem. The service is friendly, efficient and the food is home cooed and healthy options are available. Closed on Sunday and Monday though. Evening meals here are very popular, so early booing is advised.

Loch Croistean is an excellent cafe/restaurant. Very warm and welcoming. Lovely woodburner. Delicious food and cakes. Not licensed, BYOB. Marianne is a wonderful hostess and makes you feel more like you are visiting a friends house. Nothing is too much trouble. Very family-friendly too. Booking is VERY advisable in the summer months as it's very popular in the evenings.
