We loved our dinner here. Cozy vibes, good service. We had corn chowder, shepard’s pie, steak and cheesecake and it was all delicious. The soup was a highlight.

This place is outstanding. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, very chic with fab views. The food is always fantastic. They use locally/scottish sourced produce, bringing in fantastic seafood from around Scotland. Food is cooked to a high standard, presented to a high standard and served by staff that are fairly knowledgeable about what they're serving and the local area in general. The food is pricey, but you get what you pay for. It's worth the bill. Booking is an absolute necessity. It's always worth chancing your arm last minute if you find yourself in the area but, always book ahead if you know you're going to be around. The only slight negative I can think of is the drinks are over priced. But again, you generally expect that when you dine out.High class city dining on the river, Definitely give it a go.

I had their early dinner menu which was 20pounds for 2 courses - poached chicken salad and fish pie. The lettuce in the salad was fresh, although the chicken was too dry to my liking. The fish pie was very salty and the saltiness was quickly overwhelming. The mashed potato was very creamy and buttery, but I felt that the flavours of the dish were mostly drowned out by the saltiness and made the food less enjoyable.

You need to make a reservation before you get here, it's always booked. The food was great, nice ambience. We had the salmon with prawns and curry. Also had the chicken stuffed main course which was something different and a must try.

Spent a week in Scotland, and The Mustard Seed was by far the best meal we had during the trip. It's a slightly upscale restaurant, but it still felt relaxed and casual. Had an amazing evening with friends over several bottles of wine, and then ended with desserts and an espresso martini. Will absolutely be back next time I'm in the Highlands!

Late lunch with Chicken , orzo salad, garlic and courgettes. Followed by sea bass and steak mains. All delicious. Friendly staff , good wine and with a lively buzz about the place. Definitely worth a visit, recommend booking.

Disappointing in many ways…we were excited by the high rating (normally trust google reviews)…the service was poor (being kind), quality of the food was not great, cocktail and wine menu very limited and menu was over priced. To top it off the petrol station toilets are cleaner than the ones here! Table behind us were very upset as food was late and quality was poor.

I had planned to have an evening meal with a relative but had to adjust my plans slightly.I dined alone, for an evening meal, and was impressed by the service: knowledgeable and friendly staff provided me with what I wanted when I wanted it.I am on a restrictive diet: gluten free and plant based. This can leave me with few options when dining out but I felt catered for, and certainly cared for by the staff who displayed an admirable amount of knowledge about such diets, by the menu offered.I do feel that The Mustard Seed can improve their non-meat offerings but this is as much a note about Modern European cuisine as it as anything else (I feel this branch of cuisine is about simple, high quality and fresh ingredients which can be a problem when trying to provide a protein source for vegans). Otherwise a very enjoyable meal, in comfortable surroundings, with excellent staff.Pictures: berry sorbet for dessert, root vegetable main course, sprout-based starter (unfortunately I did not note what the dishes were at the time and the Vegan Christmas Menu is no longer available for reference) and my drinks.

📍Scottish HIGHLAND cuisine at its BEST @ The Mustard Seed, InvernessBoasting nearly 2000 Google Reviews, this restaurant at the Scottish Highland capital is a FAVOURITE amongst locals. Serving authentic European cuisine, the location is set directly facing the banks of the River Ness.⛰️Michelle and I wanted to experience authentic highlander cuisine; this seemed to be the perfect place to go.⛪I was wowed by the interior designs the moment we entered. What initially was a disused church was transformed into The Mustard Seed restaurant; a lovely open log fire dances in the middle of the restaurant, and the double height ceiling brought a sense of grandiosity. Michelle and I were attended to by a kind lady by the name of Sophia; service here was top-notch.🥖We were served fine pieces of bread (complimentary) with Irish butter. The lunch menu was well worth the price; 14.95 £ for 2 course meal.🐠For the starters, the Crispy Fried Cod Goujons were heavenly. True to its name, it was crisp, fresh-tasting, tender and piping hot from the fryer. Michelle had the Roasted Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Hummus, a dish in which she enjoyed.🥩Then the mains came. Mine was Lamb from the exquisite Sunday Roast Special with mashed potatoes (they served BLACK Pudding. It came with pork meat it in, so I had to decline the pudding). I normally tend to avoid roasts as I often find the meat to be rather dry-tasting. This time, however, was the first time I had such a tender lamb roast; it was juicy, succulent, perfectly complemented by the gravy. I've never had better to be honest.Michelle ordered the Pan Fried Fillet of Scrabster Hake - good stuff, she loved her choice. (Michelle doesn't eat meat aside from fish)😁Highland cuisine here is so authentically crafted, I would vouch for the cuisine here anytime. The experience here is a must, should you ever step foot in Scottish Highlands.
