New Chef this year, absolutely stunning food with beautiful flavours. We nipped in for lunch and were definitely not disappointed. Server was really nice, and helpful, and it was a lovely calm atmosphere. We had the tuna melt and the chicken BLT which were absolutely sublime. So good we booked a table for another time as well.

Being vegan it can be difficult to find somewhere that actually goes beyond simple basic options. The Polochar Inn is not one of these places. In terms of food options they are thinking about plant based food as they would about any other dish. Flavour, texture, and presentation. This means they have plant based food on the menu that excites the palate and makes you want to return for that alone. However the welcome, service and ambience topped off our meal, which matched the equally wonderful location. Well done to all the team. They are also dog friendly (in the bar area) which is always a plus for us.

Amazing vegetarian and vegan options - which went way beyond the standard veggie burger we have had elsewhere. The tofu starter in particular was a standout - thank you! Also dog friendly in the bar where you can also eat which was a huge bonus :)

Visited for an evening meal and both the service and the food were excellent!! I’m still sat here in the bar writing this which I never really do to be honest but this lovely Inn very much deserves the review. The staff couldn’t have been any more helpful and the food…….biggest scallop I’ve ever seen, let alone eaten and the Uist lobster was delicious and served like I’ve never seen before…..the homemade ice cream sundae you need to have to experience for yourself!!Well worth a visit xxx

We had a fabulous big breakfast here on our way past on the Hebridean Way. All the hotel guests had already checked out but the staff kindly had us in for a big cooked breakfast for my other half and pancakes for me. This was a lovely place with amazing views - would recommend to anyone walking or cycling past!

Superb food - scallops and salmon cooked beautifully, and a gorgeous local venison burger with proper thick chips. Great to see local produce being allowed to shine, and in such a stunning setting. Warm, welcoming and outstanding service. Will be back next time I visit and bringing others!

We're a family of 4, with 2 children under 10 years old in our party. We stayed at the Polochar Inn over the Easter break and had a fantastic time.We dealt with Lorenzo prior to our visit and asked him to change dates and add an extra room on to our stay - this was done with ease, so we expected good things when we actually arrived. We weren't disappointed. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Elaine, who then made the rest of our holiday just that much better. It's clear that she has a passion for customer service, but also enjoys getting to know people outwith her role at the inn.One of our party has a serious food allergy and the only thing that they could not eat was the bread in the morning, because it is made elsewhere. All other food was made fresh on the premises and was safe and delicious for our whole party - this was such a massive relief. The two rooms we had were comfortable and looked to have been recently upgraded with refurbishment. The beds were great to sleep on, there were extra blankets (that we didn't have to use) and there were tea/coffee making facilities in both rooms with a little welcome bag of shortbread. The inn downstairs has a restaurant, residents lounge and a big bar. The selection of drinks available were good, with different options for beer, gin and wine. We didn't drink anything else, so can't comment on other spirits. The Polochar Inn is set in a lovely part of South Uist, which afforded us some lovely views from our room window. There's plenty of walking to be done, with each route clearly marked and showing the distances. It's such a quiet area at night, we all slept brilliantly! Our ferry back to the mainland was cancelled by Calmac and upon finding out, Elaine was brimming with ideas of how to make things right for us - even though none of it was her doing in the first place. We also heard her offer other residents, who were using the very early lifeline service to Oban, a breakfast of hot filled rolls and takeaway coffee - what a service! Something you definitely don't get everywhere. When we are lucky enough to return to South Uist we will definitely visit the Polochar Inn; Elaine and her team. It was a brilliant break and my kids haven't stopped talking about it.Thanks Polochar Inn team!
