Lovely food, and front of house staff are brilliant. The only shame was the website example menu mentions breakfast. I understand that meals expressed on the menu may not be available but don't have an example menu with a breakfast section and breakfast items on it if you are not open for breakfast.

It's rare I write a review for anywhere. However the Canna café is truly a hidden gem. If you come expecting everything to run like clockwork then you're on the wrong island, Canna is remote, isolated and this is a pub offering a brilliant refuge for weary legs. The Café owners are immensely helpful and will go above and beyond. Incredible food and prices which match the high quality of the ingredients involved.Ignore all the 1 star reviews, they Cleary did not get the spirit of Canna. Go with an open mind and a hungry stomach and I grantee you the Canna Café will provide! If I could put 10 stars I would!

Superb service, fantastic food. Didn't get to try the Jack the cafes own real ale but heard great things about it.... Next time.

We ate here twice while staying in Canna, the popular seafood platter was a real treat, really fresh lobster, crab and langoustines. I also had the Laksa which was a interesting curry with local seaweed, octopus and mackerel. Would thoroughly recommend both.

We had a wonderful evening at Café Canna! We preordered our food as advised on the website for certain dishes, and the owners very kindly worked around the dietary requirements of a fussy eater, and they were quite happy for us to delay our booking by an hour to give us some extra time for a walk around the connecting island of Sanday! There weren't any crabs caught on the day, but to my friend's delight there were lobsters, and not only that but the gentleman who had caught the lobster was sat next to us in the restaurant, and demonstrated how to break through the exoskeleton to reach the meat inside! What a treat! It was our priciest evening of the trip, but the menu is superb, with as many ingredients locally sourced/foraged as possible, from fish to seaweed!

When we planned our trip we looked at the menu online and it seemed great so we were looking forward to enjoying some delicious food while on the Island. Sadly all I experienced was disappointment. It states on the menu online and on your sign outside that you do lunches and evening meals and takeaways are available. Yet we were told that you no longer do takeaways for evening meals. You really need to update this on your website and signage. This is something people need to know prior to coming to a remote Island. The next morning we walked past and it wasn't open. It opens approx after 10am and it had hardly any of the food on the menu ( that was our experience anyway). Sadly I would not recommend but others seemed to enjoy their experience. I am writing this to allow future tourist's to go prepared because you can't rely on the café. They do serve alcohol to take away which was lovely. We did manage to get bacon sandwiches but at £6 a pop it really wasn't worth it.The owner replies - Hi Angela, we most certainly do takeaways - both lunch and dinner. We open at 11am every day (except Tuesdays, when we're closed). Our bacon sandwiches are made with home baked bread, stuffed with organic Scottish bacon, with a side of vegetable crisps - they're not your average bap :)So what you are telling me is that when my wife told me that you told her that you don't do takeaways for evening meals on Wednesday she was lying? Hmm? No she wasn't. Why if you do takeaways for evening meals were we eating what we could find in the shop?

Friendly atmosphere and great food, excellent value considering they are the only place to eat on the island!Seafood platter is something else, remember to order ahead for seafood. Also advisable to book as only a small place, seats outside too but beware of the weather and/or midgies

Wonderful little cafè in the middle of nowhere, on a wonderful little island. Food is excellent. We had the venison pie for diner ... a real treat. Fantastic little cafè with stunning views. It’s a little place, so make a reservation. Friendly and polite staff.

Free WiFi on a remote island. Accepts credit cards. Cool vibe and soundtrack. Kind staff. Just a few food and drink options but all good.

Only a short stop for a late lunch whilst on an AquaExplore boat trip hour long stopover. The homemade lentil chickpea and chilli soup was superb. The dinner menu made me want to go back and try the salt and pepper squid squid starter, rabbit stew and lobster. The location is idyllic. There will have to be a next time!
