Unhinged! The owner stormed out of the shop shouting at some Indian tourists for putting their litter in "his" bin. Started throwing their litter out of the bin all over the grass, ranting and completely lost the plot. Horrible individual, which made me sorry that we had given him any of our money. Felt really bad for the tourists. Disgraceful behaviour.

With several options in the area we decided on this place, mainly as there were public use tables outside.Chips needed more frying time, fish was overly coated in batter that had been fried for too long (but not burnt) so much so that the batter was literally falling apart and crumbling off. Weird. Batter was tasteless. The tomato ketchup made it consumable.Price was extortionate especially when the chips were obviously not from fresh potatoes in the traditional way.Not a great lunch unfortunately.

Some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had! My husband and I shared the £8.50 fish and chips and had plenty of the food between the two of us. There’s nice picnic tables opposite the shop along the canal.

Very fresh food and decent portions. They were open on Monday 3th May and the guys were friendly. We ordered fish and chips (just taken from fridge and battered in front of us) & scampi

This place must have had a change of ownership since our last visit which was great. It's now up there with the worst fish and chips I've ever had.We had the stuff wrapped and made the mistake of not checking before we left. The portion size was dreadful, believe it or not the picture is haggis and chips, shameful.Chips dry and I'm not sure if they were frozen not traditional as it says. The batter was heavy and soggy, we left most of it.There were no mushy peas I went to londis and bought a tin!!Horrifically expensive for what you get. On the bright side they do offer salt and vinegar. The reason we went here was the monster fish bar by londis was poor, 2 years ago this was great sadly not now.Save your sanity and your money go elsewhere.

The Monster was shut so tried this place as it was a "Traditional" fish & chip shop.....at least we wouldn't get frozen-style chips then.......!!!! Well, actually, we did.....unless I'm mistaken, they weren't " proper" chip shop chips, made on the premises from potatoes they have peeled. Shame really, as apart from that, the service was efficient, staff were great, all Covid friendly, and the fish & chips were 78% on the edible scale. Portions not huge, but all-in-all I've had worse and paid more. Will try the Monster next time I'm in FA, making sure I get there before it shuts.

For the BEST freshly cooked and delicious Fish and Chips in Fort Augustus Canal-side Fish and Chips is your best bet. Great service and fair value. These guys are way faster/better in my opinion than Monster Fish & Chips who served old, cold chips held under the heat lamp in boxes while the cooked my 3 kids sausage suppers. If you want fresh super tasty - Then Canalside fish and chips is the best

Shocking. I can honestly say I've never had such bad fish and chips. Portion size tiny and certainly not worth the price. Chips were dry and batter was stodgy. I left most of it and only ate what I did be a use I was hungry. It certainly wasn't 'fast' food either even though we were their only customers!Save your dosh and get a pot noodle from Londis!

From photos it looks like there has been a change in name and maybe ownership? It was quite busy as there seemed to be a bus load of tourists nearby so it did take a while to be served, however the gentleman acknowledged me. The chips were quite nice however the fish did not taste all that nice and the batter was bland and seemed oily as well. I’ve had worse fish and chips though

What an improvement since the new owner took over. The food is very good, well cooked and spotlessly clean inside the shop. You cannot please all of the people all of the time, but take it from me you will get the best fish and chips ever, along with the other choices he has. Scrumptious!!!
