Castletown Fish & Chips in Highland

First time here as was staying in Thurso for 2 nights, friendly and efficient staff, ordered 2 x fish suppers which were hot and good portion size, tasted good but afterwards had a strange taste/layer of fat or grease on roof of my mouth.

Not nice. I asked for chips with cheese and would’ve expected the cheese to be grated. It was like they just dumped a lump of cheese on top of the chips! It was obviously cheap cheese as well because it was very very greasy. The food was warm and just full of grease. Won’t be coming back!

Was expecting great things as had a friend rave over it but was very disappointing - has it changed hands in the last year or so? 3 of us had chips and most were end bits or inedible and hard anyway. Fish half the size you get in Orkney and batter soft and greasy...

Expensive and staff were overwhelmed with the amount of customers. Asked for batter (scraps) but got none, they told me they were too busy. Deal breaker for me.

Very friendly and helpful, service was great , just wasn't my favourite fish and chips (was close to closing time, might just have been unfortunate timing)

Had the potential to be excellent but they seem incapable of Keeping things in the fryer long enough to cook the batter never mind make it crispy! Soo disappointed

A little hole-in-the-wall place that the locals seemed to visit. Would not have found it if we wouldn't have asked. AMAZING!!! Should I ever visit Scotland again, I will ditch vegan and make sure to return here. This visit took place in 12/2018. As you can see I still dream of this place nearly 2yrs later.

Absolutely delicious fish supper and awesome customer service. Being a tourist I’ve always wanted to try a deep fried mars bar. I asked if they sold them and was told they didn’t but if I went to the shop down the road they would fry it for me. They fried the mars bar free of charge all with a massive smile on their face. It made my day. If your doing the NC500 and passing by don’t miss it!

Delicious food in good price. Scampi very tasty! You have to try :)
