Cromarty Arms in Highland

Typical local pub. Outdated interior. not really for the tourists. I think the bar staff needs a pint of Happy Chappy to make em smile. Such a shame as probably rely on the visitors to the area a lot.

Awful. Rude and unwelcoming bar staff. Lacked atmosphere. Lounge bar smelled of overpowering cooking oil yet the barmaid said she wasn't serving food as she was on her own. Ashamed as a proud Scot to say the Highland hospitality failed miserably. Definitely not returning unless under new management!

Chatty pleasant staff and regulars. Pull a decent pint. Food is os ok, will do the job. Not much choice, but the foot traffic doesn't require a massive list. The home made yellow split pea soup was gorgeous.

Not welcoming and rude landlords. Worth £9 for 3 drinks to avoid spending anymore time there. Will not be going back anytime soon. Dated place anyway geared for locals.

Its a proper local pub not aimed at tourists. Does good "honest" food and excellent selection of whisky and gin. Pool table and dart board if you need such a thing. Also has decent sized beer garden.

The Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands is a beautiful area to visit. Pretty, spotlessly kept villages and gardens, attractive harbours and excellent road network rendered this a perfect day trip in glorious weather.Our destination was Cromarty, which overlooks the Firth with its strangely attractive oil rigs brought in from the North Sea for servicing or decommissioning. They looked to me like a row of mighty sci-fi titans marching into the warm(!) haar.We had a meal at the Cromarty Arms Inn in Church Street. It is adjacent to Cromarty Courthouse and Hugh Miller's Cottage. Hugh Miller was a self-taught Scottish geologist and writer, folklorist and an evangelical Christian.The proprietors, Helen and Kenny MacFarlane, work very hard to maintain this B&B establishment in tiptop condition. They serve superb bar meals most of the day.Both Helen and Kenny are welcoming and have a good sense of humour. After some jocular discombobulation, we ordered our meal and sat outside. There is also an attractive beer garden to the rear.We had a delicious prawn cocktail followed by a fluffy, perfectly prepared omelette with ham, cheese and tomato fillings, crisp chips (dislike soggy ones) and peas. The portions were generous, so ample in fact we had not room for their range of tasty desserts.A good choice of beverages: beers, ales, whiskies, soft drinks etc.Their efficient service with a smile, not a snarl, always ticks our box.The Covid restrictions were strictly adhered to. Sanitiser was freely available at the entrance. The powder rooms were immaculately clean.A most pleasant ambience added to a perfect day. Well worth exploring the narrow streets criss-crossing the town and the viewpoint overlooking the estuary.I cannot recommend the Cromarty Arms Inn more highly.Thank you for a memorable experience.

This place doesn't get enough credit , made to feel at ease , very friendly and great tatting food . With nice cold drinks in the beer garden or inside . Just pleasant place with great value for your money .

Nice local pub selling a good range of beers. Lovely garden for a nice day/evening. The food was simple basic menu nicely cooked.

Staff were extremely friendly, immediately stopped what she was doing and guided us to where we wanted to sit. We sat in the beer garden, order was quickly taken, for starters I had the Coriander and Carrot Soup my wife had the Garlic Mushrooms. Mains I had the Steak and Ale Pie my wife had the Tuna Jacket Potato, the appearance of the Jacket may look lacking but to be fair that was the wife's fault as she had refused the salad. Both meals were tasty and filling, and arrived quickly. An enjoyable time was had. The pub was clean, airy and very inviting!
