georges thai &south indian restraunt in Highland

This restaurant tries to do many things - Thai, south Indian, Punjabi/British Indian. Unfortunately it ended up not succeeding at any of them on our visit.We had to wait way too long for our main course (1 hour from ordering) despite the restaurant being less than half full. There were also a worrying number of what sounded like microwave pings coming from the kitchen.The other problem was the smell of urinal cake that hit us as soon as we entered the restaurant. Not sure what that was about but it doesn't really get you in the mood for a pleasant dining experience.I would suggest reducing the number of dishes on offer and focusing on quality of food and the overall dining experience. It could be a decent restaurant with a bit of effort and attention from the owner(s) but based on our experience I wouldn't return.

What a find! We pre booked this restaurant based on reviews and the varied menu. The staff were friendly and helpful, lots of interesting dishes to choose from, some of which were well known and others a little more unusual. A very enjoyable meal.

The chicken pad Thai was stodgey and flavourless, tempura veges were like something you'd buy out of farmfoods. Ended up putting most of it in the bin. Definitely wouldn't recommend or go back. The worst "Thai" food we've ever had.

Should have trusted all the poor reviews here, the South Indian food doesn't have the right spices, can't taste tamarind in sambar but too much hing (asafoetida), it wasn't the comfort food I came looking for.The waitresses were very polite and hardworking, my two stars are for their effort!

I had an overall satisfactory visit at Georges. They serve both Thai and South indian food. Considering the chef is South Indian, I was expecting the South indian food to be better than the Thai dishes, but was surprised to find out otherwise. The mushroom soup and red Thai curry were really tasty and generous in portion size. I also had idli and Mysore masala dosa. While clearly the idli batter was top quality, the preparation of sambhar, chutney and Mysore masala dosa was not authentic. I wouldn't say that the South indian food was bad, it wasn't, but I would classify it as average. Perhaps this is the place you go to when you're craving spicy Indian food in Inverness. I visited in the afternoon, so there was nobody else in the restaurant, so the service was obviously very good.

The staff here are friendly and the atmosphere is happily noisy. The customers were mainly South Asian families when I visited, adding to the homely atmosphere. The Thai food, however, was not very Thai, and was more Indian in flavour. My fried rice was extremely peppery, which is not a flavour typically associated with Thai fried rice. This might be because we visited on a day that the Thai chef wasn't working. So the food was good, just not as expected.

I like Thai food, and it was good choice! We order curry, beef, and chicken soup-was very tasty and spicy(we like spicy) :)

It's a great restaurant, the front doesn't do it justice. We were a little disappointed with the duck wraps, it came a little too crispy for us and the wraps were a little on the hard side. The Bindi had green chilli in which is lovely but we had a little too much in ours. However we really enjoyed the food overall, kids loved the chicken fried rice and the Chicken Red Thai was amazing. Just shy off top marks but a great place.

Very good South Indian and Thai Restaurant. Nice spicy sizzling food..
