Kings House Hotel Restaurant in Highland

I stayed here last night with my husband and son after a 19-mile hiking stretch of the West Highland Way. Needless to say we were hungry and tired. We were also very much looking forward to a stay in this lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings.Unfortunately it wasn’t the best:1) Our bathroom was disgusting. It simply hadn’t been cleaned. We were met with skid marks in the toilet pan and toe-nail clippings in the bath....and it doesn’t stop there. There were human hairs on the basin and toilet and splash marks across the mirror and shower screen and two used glasses.2) We ordered a packed lunch but nobody had bothered to put the order through so we had to go without a lunch - not what you need on a long distance hiking trip.3) Dinner in the Restaurant was just a bar meal but at restaurant prices. Very little choice and uncomfortable seating. It seems we were seated in a darkened bar area more suited to casual drinking than a formal meal.4) The chips were dry and over-cooked and there was NO oil on the truffle oil chips.5) Service in the bar/restaurant was a bit strange; whether you got good service really depended on who you got. We were promised cutlery for our desserts for example but in the end my son had to get up and get it for us.6) We booked breakfast for 9.30am to find most of the food gone and the coffee machine empty.I told reception about the bathroom on the way to dinner - but that we’d used it anyway as we were dead on our feet and didn’t want to have to wait however long for housekeeping. I told him I’d leave it there but that I just wanted him to know that our room was unacceptable. I also asked for packed lunches (admittedly after the 8pm deadline as we didn’t even know they DID sandwiches let alone what the deadline was) and the receptionist agreed to get them done for me (after the bath incident I presume) and they never turned up. The receptionist (a different one) today was very apologetic about the pack up etc but it seems the hotel is unable to make sandwiches for guests after a certain time?!I wasn’t going to complain but because last nights receptionist couldn’t even manage to get us some sandwiches after the disgusting bathroom I decided this needed saying.The irony is that I have worked as a chamber maid and know exactly how hard it is. I also know I’d never have dared leave a bathroom in that state.I shall definitely be making a complaint about the whole experience. Especially at this price-point I expect much better. Premier Inn Milngavie wins hands down.

We stopped in the Way Inn at the Kingshouse Hotel around lunchtime to grab a bite to eat while on The West Highland Way. I think the earlier you get here the better because it seemed once the selection of hot pies and sausage rolls etc had sold they weren't replenished and there was no other hot food available. We were some of the later arrivals and the choice was limited but what we did manage to get was tasty Chicken Curry Pies served to us by a really polite,friendly member of staff.

A fantastic hotel right in the heart of Scotland's most beautiful landscape. A great spot for walkers and those looking to explore Glencoe and beyond. The hotel is very dog friendly, a small treat and toy welcome kit is in the room and they are welcome in the relaxed dining area.Food and drink wise, the hotel offers a selection of Scottish dishes including venison and fish. There's a well stocked bar with a huge whisky selection, draft beers, wines and cocktails.

The hotel is set in incredible surroundings. However the stay was not a good experience.Food Poisoning, which we did not make a big deal of was met with orders for me to get tests from a GP to provide the hotel with proof... no apologies or concern. I was made to feel like I had done wrong mentioning it, we never asked for anything from them only if we could stay passed checkout if I was too ill to drive 350 miles home. I doubt it was even mentioned to the chefs serving bad Oysters. Not to mention the lack of hot water that Morning, to which the receptionist replied "it works down here" and did not show any interest or apologise. We were given a disabled access room, which wouldn't have been a problem but it was not ideal for 2 able bodied people in a quiet hotel... the room was never cleaned, we never got any toilet roll or fresh towels. Not all, but most of the staff were incompetent, drinks orders would take an age to arrive if they ever did or they would arrive wrong. A couple of the staff were good, the waiter in the restaurant and the Northern Irish lady in the bar area were good. I have never ever left a review like this before and I hope I don't have to again. Shambolic hotel. It looks good and it could be good, but it really isn't.

Waiting staff in the restaurant seemed particularly stressed today. On arrival we asked if we could have a table by the window that a couple had just vacated and said we didn't mind waiting whole they cleared up etc. After it was cleared the waiter walked around us and seated someone else there, then when another table became available again ignored us and seated someone else. After that we made the decision to just drive on. Very disappointed as I have never had this experience here before. Has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.

Absolutely stunning hotel and location.The rooms we had were perfect in every way.Food was great...dinner in the bar or restaurant.And the breakfast spread is amazing.Every single member of staff is an absolute credit to the hotel,so friendly,efficient and polite.We will be back shortly for sure.Thank you.

Great hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. Vegan dinner menu had some excellent options. Views are nothing short of spectacular. Cheap EV charging point next to the car park too. Will definitely be back again.

Didn't stay in the hotel but always stop off here when I'm wild camping in Glencoe. The Way Inn is perfect for hikers and campers to get some warm food and a pint. There's also some public showers for campers to use at £1 a time. Very good chance of seeing wild Red Deer around the car park, especially at dusk and dawn.

I went here with a few family members for a drink and a little bit of food. The place was completely empty apart from a few of the hotel guests and no one took any orders as they were too enthralled by these majestic guests. After asking it again took a while and although the food was okay it was a bit cold. Furthermore the women who served us was very elitist and we all felt heavily looked down at and subsequently embarrassed/upset. Overall it had been a very good day and this honestly ruined the whole trip, will never return and hope the staff learn some manners, better customer service at fast food chains.

Had a fantastic stay at the Kingshouse Hotel. Beautiful hotel in a stunning setting. Lovely spacious room which was immaculately clean. Very helpful friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. Beautiful food in the restaurant with great cocktails too. Couldn't have asked for any more. Not to mention the beautiful wild deer that roam the grounds. Highly recommend this hotel.
