Lovely atmosphere, beautiful place, great staff and food was fantastic! We had 3 course meal, all different foods and couldn't fault a thing. I have never commented on any establishment playing music before but this was that good it deserves a mention. Macy Gray, David Gray, George Micheal and Elton John and lots others that really helped me to enjoy the experience. Situated across from the river Ness it felt as if you were in a boat. Made my valentine's day.

I had planned to have an evening meal with a relative but had to adjust my plans slightly.I dined alone, for an evening meal, and was impressed by the service: knowledgeable and friendly staff provided me with what I wanted when I wanted it.I am on a restrictive diet: gluten free and plant based. This can leave me with few options when dining out but I felt catered for, and certainly cared for by the staff who displayed an admirable amount of knowledge about such diets, by the menu offered.I do feel that The Mustard Seed can improve their non-meat offerings but this is as much a note about Modern European cuisine as it as anything else (I feel this branch of cuisine is about simple, high quality and fresh ingredients which can be a problem when trying to provide a protein source for vegans). Otherwise a very enjoyable meal, in comfortable surroundings, with excellent staff.Pictures: berry sorbet for dessert, root vegetable main course, sprout-based starter (unfortunately I did not note what the dishes were at the time and the Vegan Christmas Menu is no longer available for reference) and my drinks.

📍Scottish HIGHLAND cuisine at its BEST @ The Mustard Seed, InvernessBoasting nearly 2000 Google Reviews, this restaurant at the Scottish Highland capital is a FAVOURITE amongst locals. Serving authentic European cuisine, the location is set directly facing the banks of the River Ness.⛰️Michelle and I wanted to experience authentic highlander cuisine; this seemed to be the perfect place to go.⛪I was wowed by the interior designs the moment we entered. What initially was a disused church was transformed into The Mustard Seed restaurant; a lovely open log fire dances in the middle of the restaurant, and the double height ceiling brought a sense of grandiosity. Michelle and I were attended to by a kind lady by the name of Sophia; service here was top-notch.🥖We were served fine pieces of bread (complimentary) with Irish butter. The lunch menu was well worth the price; 14.95 £ for 2 course meal.🐠For the starters, the Crispy Fried Cod Goujons were heavenly. True to its name, it was crisp, fresh-tasting, tender and piping hot from the fryer. Michelle had the Roasted Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Hummus, a dish in which she enjoyed.🥩Then the mains came. Mine was Lamb from the exquisite Sunday Roast Special with mashed potatoes (they served BLACK Pudding. It came with pork meat it in, so I had to decline the pudding). I normally tend to avoid roasts as I often find the meat to be rather dry-tasting. This time, however, was the first time I had such a tender lamb roast; it was juicy, succulent, perfectly complemented by the gravy. I've never had better to be honest.Michelle ordered the Pan Fried Fillet of Scrabster Hake - good stuff, she loved her choice. (Michelle doesn't eat meat aside from fish)😁Highland cuisine here is so authentically crafted, I would vouch for the cuisine here anytime. The experience here is a must, should you ever step foot in Scottish Highlands.

Amazing vegan options! Aye from the festive vegan menu, highly recommended. All the staff were great and attentive even though it was very busy. Definitely worth a visit if in Inverness!

Extended our stay for an extra night just to try this restaurant because of superb reviews and was very much looking forward for our dinner.Welcome was great and this is what you usually expect from places with high score of reviews. All went well until mains arrived, Venison fillet was delicious and cooked to perfection...Rib eye steak very stringy and low quality, served on top of mashed potatoes and covered with flat mushroom and peppercorn sauce, have never ever been served steak this way, ussually all comes separate...sorry but meat felt like a very cheap and thin cut of rump steak, and have never been no where near juicy rib eye.Waitress was not bothered to ask if everything was fine with food when clearing plates by clearly seeing that majority of steak was still sitting on the plate, so I thought I have to give feedback about our mains.Steak was taken off our bill for which I wouldn't even pay, but more important is that manager wasn't even bothered to come to our table and speak to us... Shame... as this review could've been avoided with proper handling of the problem. Sometimes simply taking dishes of the bill is not going to solve problems.Manager needs to learn problem solving skills but not passing messages through her staff as it shows lack of confidence when it comes to confrontation.Place itself is overrated and I can't recommend it, simply waste of time and money...

The food and service were excellent.I had the frittata as a starter and the salmon as a main - don’t miss this choice at the bottom of the menu. The salmon was cooked to perfection, with a hard fried skin and came with 2 fresh shrimps. The menu offers starter + main for £13.95 (£17.95 if you go for the salmon as a main). The staff were very friendly.I’d recommend booking since the place gets busy with all the hikers stopping by Inverness.

Lovely restaurant. They have specials each day, so every day can be a surprise.Staff is super friendly and accommodating. The whole building belongs to a restaurant, which allowed space to be open and have nice views from most of tables, especially to the river.
