We stopped here for dinner as we were staying nearby. The staff were really friendly and efficient. I had the catch of the day special, and my husband had the steak. Both were absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

5 stars are not enough for this hotel. Much beyond our expectations. Very friendly staff... Whatever we ate was very delicious. We recommend everyone to stay here. Very well done. One day we will come back again.

Menu looked great. Decor lovely. Staff friendly and helpful. Disappointingly meals came with Peas and Carrots. Chicken and haggis was lovely as was the steak pie. Mash was a little dry and the whisky sauce had no flavour of whisky and the horseradish mash had no flavour of horseradish. Starter duck dish, bean burger & chicken/avo salad were lovely. Orkney beer was grand!!

Lovely, clean hotel in a perfect location if you're touring the NC500 or just visiting JoG or Orkney on the ferry. Bar area is nice, plenty selection of drinks and food was lovely also. Will definitely stay here again on my next stop to Orkney.

The 4 stars is based on the accommodation. Regrettably for the food I'd give 2 stars.Hotel stay:Large parking area. Friendly welcome and extensive breakfast choice included in the room rate. We had the Haddock and poached egg the first morning, no runny yoke unfortunately. Salmon and scrambled eggs the next. Plenty of salmon and good eggs. Good coffee. Our room Nicolson was spacious and clean. A large and very comfortable bed. The shower was extremely powerful which was great. Tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of space for clothes, cases. We both slept well.Rock Rose distillery on the door step. You have to book but the shop has some nice stuff. It was misty when we visited the area but we still enjoyed our walk along the beach just by the hotel. Easy drive to Dunnet Head (recommend having a walk in the area too) and Duncansby Stacks.Food:We prebooked dinner for the 2 nights we were there. In the evening food was pretty average. We shared a Goats cheese tart, nice. The chilli garlic chicken curry whilst had lots of chicken wasn't great.. not much depth of flavour served with a greasy popadom. I did eat it all as was hungry. We went boring/safe the next evening.. simple chicken burger with sweet potato fries. We tried dessert. The creme brulee had good flavour but wasn't set so was essentially a bowl of custard with strawberries. The coconut rice pudding I didn't enjoy at all. Some spoon fulls were warm others really cold i couldn't quite favom out what it was meant to be. Service was good and the local rock rose gin is lovely.Whilst I'd stay at the hotel again I think the food needs improvement.

Fantastic experience, staff really friendly and welcoming plus the food was amazing and well priced. Sat outside with our dog and they brought her a bowl of water, highly recommend the Scrabster Haddock, best fish and chips in a pub ever - highly recommended and wouldn't hesitate to return 👍😁

Went out for lunch with the family and the children's menu had a great selection, something for all of them. The food was delicious and really good portion sizes. Staff were very friendly and attentive. A lovely place to have a meal!

We booked a table for an evening meal. The menu was varied with some dishes you don't usually see on hotel menus. There is a children's menu but they're happy to do half portions of some dishes on the main menu. The food was lovely. Within walking distance from Dunnet Bay Caravan site.
