One of the best and loveliest pubs I've ever been in. Great food, great atmosphere, great bar room with an open fire and old blacksmith tools, and a TV playing programs like The Chase. Small selection of beers and cider, 4 taps all together, but enough to suit most people. Plenty of spirts on offer too. Some of the nicest pub food I've ever had, and Alice the bar woman/landlady is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Would love to go back again. Cheap too.Essential stop off if you are passing to go to John O Groats or doing the NC500.

Had a delicious lunch here today in comfortable surroundings. Great choice on the menu and large portions. Very accommodating as we had 2 Under 5's in our group and they were catered for brilliantly too.

Wonderful little country inn with fine beer and excellent scotch whiskey. We were entertained by a local celbrity, Ray Bremner, who told stories and sang traditional songs in both Gaelic and English. We were there as part of a tour group and we filled the bar-room to capacity. the owners were biehind the bar and made us feel very much welcome.

A absolute must stop off on the NC500. This old forge has so much character and history it's wonderful. The food is really good to,make sure you book in advance as it gets booked up quick. Great drink selection and very friendly and welcoming

Lovely friendly pub that retains the character of its former blacksmiths home. Good food, great staff, colourful characters, and traditional entertainment if you time your visit right! Love this place 😊😊😊

Even though the hoats had a tour bus in just as we were waiting for them to open for food we were welcomed in and the food was fresh, piping hot, and perfect, the hosts were extremely friendly. The warm homely pub was amazing

We were a group of six and each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The steak was perfect and as others have said the home made chips were the best I've had. The beer was very good and the hosts were excellent. It is a shame to visit the area and not eat here.
