I check on vĂa booking in a cozy doubled room with wiew and breakfast in july 22. I am disabled and travel with my own wheel chair. when we arrived reception the ramp was imposible to up, then we were told we have the last room. available..129 number in the ground floor. in this flor only were 2 rooms...our room very very old and very cold. they seem like the service roo.s next to lavandera.. We have to push two heavy Doors in order to accedss to our room. the room without a wiew. only gases. very old Windows. we heard all the time cars..street noisy but the worst..a lot of young People that seemed drunk shouting during hours in front of our Windows. We were awaked at 6.35 due to noises and voices again. There seem it was sleeping with you.The only thing good was the breakfast ,scotish and continental one. bread and corns non gluten available. the people in charge of the breakfast very kind. Please do not check in bookings and hotel special cozy room offers last minute and confirm tjat there is as you check in, with a wiew. And for the hotel:if you want better reviews please do not offer that bad and very differents rooms or tell the People what they are booking is NOT the same as in booking photos and descriptions.

We have just returned from a stay here and we’re pleasantly surprised at how good this hotel is. Firstly don’t try to benchmark this against a newer or more upmarket hotel. Built in 1856 it’s and old hotel but has a real quaintness mixed in with the modern. Parking is available at the main door but only 8 spaces or there abouts which are tiny and never sit empty long. My advice, don’t even try to park outside. The car park is mega busy, constantly full of busses, taxis and cars picking up and dropping off at the station. We parked in the rose street multi story which was 5min walk and for £6 for 24hrs we felt was pretty cheap and plenty of spaces with a lift. The hotel is beautiful when you walk in, very quaint with beautiful staircase and quality feel. This hotel isn’t pretentious though. It’s not a 5 star and doesn’t pretend to be. As part of our booking we paid £100 per night which included cocktails, breakfast each day and one evening meal. We liked that this was provided in the form of vouchers on checking in so we could use them whenever we wanted. Our room was a good size, clean and well appointed. Standard fair like tea, coffee, kettle, hairdryer. Some modern touches like a desk fan, toiletries, flat screen tv and room safe. Room was a bit worn in places, could do with a fresh coat of paint and extractor fan in bathroom was broken but overall it was fine. We went for the continental breakfast each day which is a buffet style where you can help yourself to unlimited hot and cold drinks, pastry’s, cereals and toast. Other option was full Scottish breakfast or your could specify what you wanted. I will review the ash restaurant separately for our evening meal but overall we had a very pleasant stay. Staff were polite, hotel was clean but could do with freshening up and modernisation in some areas but we felt it offers great value in a central location.

Beautiful, convenient location. Staircase is modeled after the titanic!

Centrally right bang in the middle of everything. Great for shops and railway station for trips up the coast and near to pubs with live music and good food. Nice restaurant at hotel called Ash and hotel serves a great breakfast. Room we had was massive more like a suite than a room. We loved our stay here.

Lovely hotel. Right next to the train station. Stayed one as was attending a concert. Single room, but spacious enough. Very clean.

Just stopped in for a pot of tea to share with my traveling companions while waiting for our train next door. Easy, quick, and lovely. The hotel seems a grand place. I enjoyed viewing the artwork as I stretched my legs.

Location was perfect with using public transport. Easy access to everything downtown-food, bars, shops, sights. Very old and dated and not very quiet but that makes it cool at the same time. The layout is a maze giving it even more character. The cafe is really good and staff was really helpful.

The location was very good. 2 min walk to railroad station. The interior is fine. Staff is helpful and friendly. Room was very small. Bathroom was good. Breakfast was terrible. Food in the hotel was alright, same with drinks.
